00:08

hello everyone and welcome to fly a queer Haikyuu podcast. I'm rainbow and I'm m, and today we are going to talk about season one, episode 21 senpai's true abilities my favorite episode of the season.

em

00:23

Ladies and gentlemen, I have pages written down. I pretty much wrote a play-by-play in my notes section.

rainbow

00:28

Yeah, em took like twice the amount of time to do notes for this episode and I'm not mad about it. I also love this episode. I don't know if it's my favorite. It might be my second favorite after episode one, but this is such a good fucking episode and we're going to get into it very soon. We have just a tiny bit of chit chat, which is just. We took our cat on a walk last night and it was really adorable.

em

00:52

Yeah, we have this really cute, like light blue leash with the sushis on it and we have we once we got all her shots done and whatnot. I'm like all right, we're gonna try and take her out. And she's been pretty timid, like we tried it once, and she kind of was like I don't know, but last night maybe, like nighttime it's a little bit more quiet, it's cooler. She was a curious girl and so we just like walked up and down the path, she went down the stairs, up the stairs, and then we were out for a little while and then when we got back I think it's stimulating, I think it's fun for her and then, like right afterwards, she curled right up with us in bed, which usually she kind of has to take a minute to settle in. So I think it tired her out and it was some good exercise.

rainbow

01:33

So, yeah, we had fun yeah, we've taken her out on the balcony a few times in the harness and like she she seems to like that, , but yeah, she was just ready, she was ready to go. We, we were like walking back up the stairs and somebody came home from walking their dog and she like paused and was like watching. She was like a little, you know, you could tell she was like I this, I recognize that this animal is a potential predator for me. , but you know she was, she was pretty chill, pretty calm. She kept walking up to people's doors and sniffing at them and we're like because she hates a closed door. Anyone who has a cat knows in general they do not like when a door is closed. They're like excuse me, I have to know what's in every room of every space I am in very rude of our neighbors to have their front doors closed.

em

02:17

Honestly, how dare they?

rainbow

02:19

, but yeah, so that was just what we wanted to share for that. And then we have a little bit of housekeeping from em yeah.

em

02:24

So I just started to call this move in volleyball where like two people up front they come up and they kind of are like they have the ball and they kind of have to push, you know, and I kept calling it a duel. I don't know why my brain thought it was a duel and then it was like a tiktok of volleyball and they were calling it a joust and I was like, oh that, oh, that's definitely what it's called, not a duel. So, apologies, I think I started saying that in like episode 18. So if anyone was like, oh, what are you talking about? I meant a joust, so excuse me.

rainbow

02:53

Yeah, so you know we're a little ahead of schedule with recording, so episode 18 hasn't even come out yet. So by the time that correction is made, it'll be weeks. Yeah, it'll be weeks that you've been hearing him say that. But you know, I think duel makes perfect sense. I mean, what's the real difference between a duel and a joust? Fans of medieval history, let us know. Yeah, so that's it for housekeeping. I think we're ready to move on. I can't wait. So it is.

em

03:20

Rainbow's turn for the episode recap. Rainbow you ready? I'm ready, okay, three, two one.

rainbow

03:27

It's Suga's time to shine, and he's shaking things up in this game. Oikawa scrambles to adjust to Mr Refreshing's playstyle, while Kageyama learns some important lessons from the sidelines. Hinata reminds Kageyama that he is the one who promised to beat the king, so Kags isn't allowed to lose to anyone else. What a heterosexual moment between these two players.

em

03:47

This you know I.

rainbow

03:48

It's obvious why I love this episode because it's a Kageyama growth episode and it is littered with some of my favorite kagehina moments and it's a lot of suga and it's suga really getting his flowers, which is important, and it's just such a good episode and I, yeah, so we're gonna get into it, because there's like a moment, at the like, the very first moment is a nice one, and then we get probably one of my favorite Kagehina moments ever, and maybe my favorite Kagehina moment in season one.

em

04:17

So we start off at the end of the episode. Kageyama was getting subbed out and Suga is there on the sidelines. They sub him out and Suga is there on the sidelines. They sub him out and Suga takes a second. He puts his hand on his shoulder and he says you know, don't worry, we're just switching up the rhythm a little bit, which I really appreciate that he did that, because of course, this is. They know that this is like Kageyama's worst nightmare is being pulled off the court. Kageyama knows he's been fucking up a little bit and so, getting that reassurance, I think is so important and Kageyama does say like I'm sorry, yeah, but I'm sorry.

rainbow

04:47

It kind of like gets me. He's just like because he knows he fucked up and you know that in itself shows growth because, like when he was taken off the court in middle school, in that flashback that we see like he's mad, he doesn't understand, and we see, we talk about I'll talk about it later in this episode but we see that he understands what happened in that moment and he understands why this is different.

em

05:03

Yes, I think he still has some learning to go, but I just also noted that, like this episode is going to be me just crying about how good of a senpai like Suga is the senpai that that Tobio deserves, and I'm very happy he's here, mr Refreshing. And so then, you know, Kageyama goes to silence and Suga is concerned because he's like you know, if both of them, meaning kagehina crble, you know it's gonna be bad, but fear not well, I just want to say I love how often the other players, or even the coaches, are like oh, I hope this doesn't rub tina turk Kageyama's play style.

rainbow

05:33

I hope this doesn't like make them crble and then Kageyama do something super gay to just reassure everyone, like no, we're good. And this, this moment, is so good, am I? Can I just? I just go for it. Okay, yeah, because Kageyama is like walking up and Hinata has like left the little area where he's supposed to stay because he's off the court right now. He's gone. He walks up to Kageyama and he says don't you dare lose to those guys first. And everyone, including Kageyama, is like what? And then he's. He says I promised, yeah. He says I promised to be the one to beat you and I will, so you're not allowed to lose to them. First.

em

06:09

He says you're not allowed to lose to anyone but me. What Is Hinata? An alpha? I think so.

rainbow

06:12

I think Hinata might be an alpha. Like I. Oh my God, I cannot fully explain the like overwhelming feelings inside of me. Like I am, I am the meme of the person fucking running all over like bouncing off the walls. Like I this moment gets me.

06:29

I have like the okay I'm, I am crumbling I'm crumbling and all of karasuno was like yeah, yeah, literally like it goes to like Ukai Takeda and Kiyoko on the bench, just like kind of dumbfounded staring, and then it like takes a, takes a glance at Karasuno and they're just all looking like what the gay hell is happening right now, oh my god. And then Kageyama's response is perfect because he's like shook at first and then he like does like a cute little pout, and then he says to Hinata what Hinata said in their very first game, which is the game isn't over yet, so I haven't lost yet. And Hinata knows that is like he knows that Kageyama is saying his own words back to him and his eyes flash. I have a video of the way Hinata's eyes flash because I'm obsessed with it. It's like they OK, you talk now.

em

07:19

And then Yamaguchi kind of like drags him off. He's like you're going to get in trouble and he like the way that Hinata is getting dragged off but also just like grinning fairly at Kageyama as he goes. And I'm going to probably say this a few times, but I feel like this is a perfect reason why people maybe like Kageyama is misunderstood, because their language to each other is not nice or flowery on the surface, but they say exactly what the other person needs to hear.

rainbow

07:43

The way that Kagehina communicate with each other is, like very specific to them, and I think it's important to note that they don't necessarily talk to other people quite the way they talk to each other. Like Kagehina might be like a jerk to Tsukishima he's very much like giving back what Tsukishima is giving him but like Kagehina, they just have this like special way of communicating with each other. That is that kind of like they're always pushing each other, always teasing each other and yeah, we're gonna see it later in this episode too and it's not just Kageyama like being like a jerk to Hinata, it's like both of them being like no like, like you're my rival and well, not to sibling cold them, because I do ship them.

em

08:21

But it's like that phenomenon, when you're such best friends with someone that you become siblings and that you can argue and talk to each other crazy and like it's fine, because that's just how y'all operate.

rainbow

08:31

Yeah, it's like that mug that your friend gave you. There's a moment and a friendship. When you stop being friends and you become sisters, shout out to.

em

08:40

I'm not gonna say your real name, but shout out to you baby, you don't listen to this podcast. But yeah, so and then. So Suga, you know, is like oh, I guess I have nothing to worry about, as is what continues to happen throughout the show, and then Suga comes on the court and he punches everybody. He's.

rainbow

08:57

I love him so much. He yeah, he just punches, , I think it's like Asahi, Daichi, Asahi, and Tanaka.

em

09:03

And then he high fives, I think, with NishiNoya. Yes, yeah, he's like, hey, hey, hey, it's like Daichi, Asahi and Tanaka. And then he high fives, I think, with NishiNoya. Yes, yeah, he's like, hey, hey, hey, it's just like a very like you know, all right, snap out of it. I know we're getting crushed. And then he's like all right, like let's change the direction of this, with a big smile. And then everyone, except for Suki, of course, like just has this big smile on their face because Oikawa clocks it right away, calling him Mr Refreshing, because he absolutely is. They're quite behind in this first set and he's lifting their spirits up. And Hinata is watching from the side, like, oh, you know, seeing the way Suga is so nice and like cheers everyone up. And then he looks to his grpy boyfriend and Kageyama like looks at him like what? And he's like Mono Mo, your face is scary.

rainbow

09:44

Yes, absolutely, and he's just like calling out Kageyama for being quiet during the game.

em

09:49

yes, he's like well, he's like why can't you be like suga, basically? And he's like yeah, he's like I could tell that you were thinking something, but you weren't saying it out loud, so how are we supposed to know? And Kageyama didn't even realize. He was like oh, I wasn't talking. And he's like, no, and then he goes on to scold him and Kagehan was like am I, have I really gone that badly that he gets the right to scold me? But I also wrote like Hinata could be a fucking relationship coach with the way that emotional intelligence comes to him so easily yeah, it's definitely a skill he has.

rainbow

10:15

I also wanted to say when the team is like smiling at Suga, it is big grins, but part of me feels like it's like the smile you give to like a person you think who might be a little crazy, or you're like, yeah, -h, please don't hit us again. Yeah, absolutely. And then Suga calls out Daichi for also being quiet.

em

10:35

Yes, I said, this was almost like a parallel to the Kagehina moment that just happened.

rainbow

10:39

And then the rest of the team makes a cp that like nobody's allowed to talk back to Daichi except for Suga, because they're boyfriends. Thus a ship was born yeah Well, I mean it's already been there, but it was just sealed, yeah. And then we just kind of have Oikawa, kind of like. Yeah, I think in the dub he calls him Mr Optimistic and we don't have to talk about it here, but at some point I want to talk about Oisuga, because I think that's a fun, rare pair yeah that we could get into , and I think we can talk about it a little bit later, because then we have Suga Suga going to Tsukishima.

em

11:09

Yes, and giving him praise is it like after no so he's talking to Suki and this is when Oikawa is kind of clocking like, okay, like this is Mr Refreshing. But when he's talking to Suki, Oikawa talks to Iwaizumi and is like, hey, aim for Mr Refreshing because he's shorter and you can probably get the block past him. But while he's doing that, suga is telling Suki hey, strong teams usually aim for me, so let's switch last minute. So that's what happens and Suki is able to block it and they get the point. Suga earns them a few points right off the bat.

rainbow

11:38

Yeah, him coming in. That was such a smart choice on Ukai's part, not just like for Kageyama, but just the whole game and the whole team, Like he completely shakes things up on so many different levels. Yes, and you know, and I think that's you know because I know we talked about in the episode Decision where you know, Ukai really struggled with putting Kageyama over Suga. But I think part of Ukai always knew like Suga can still be, and I think Suga knew this too, but like he can still be an asset to the team even if he's not constantly on the court. And this is just that coming to fruition.

em

12:11

Well, Suga's been using this time on the sidelines to analyze the game so he's able to kind of stay calm and make these decisions. So right after Suki does that, he's like you know, he runs over. He's like Suka's like everyone's favorite aunt.

rainbow

12:23

He like runs over and tells Suki he's done a good job and Suki, who is respectful to his senpais, doesn't know what to do with Suka's open praise and it's just like, , yeah, he's like clearly, like kind of sweating a little bit, like looking to the side, like I don't know Cause, normally he would like if that were any, if that were any, if that were somebody on his like level, he would probably have some snark. I think even if it was Tanaka he would probably have some snark. But like he knows he, like he. I don't think it's not even that he knows he shouldn't. I just don't think he wants to talk back to Suga like that.

em

12:52

I don't think Suga brings it out of him because like, yeah, suki, you know will will snark at people who are db and loud or whatever, but Suga is just like a respected senpai. So like, what are you gonna do? And that's that's fun to watch.

13:04

I just have to say I love whenever he calls Hinata over and he does his little hand wave and he's like Hinata, come here, it's so adorable and I was trying to Google about this because I I've heard about this before but I couldn't verify it, so let me know if I'm wrong.

13:17

But that's more common in Japan, where they wave. So in America, when you wave someone over, your hand is turned upwards, yeah, your palm is facing up. But with Japan they do it the opposite way, where their fingers are kind of down, and I feel like I've heard it mimics the way that a cat paws something to them. But I don't know if I'm totally right on that, so if anyone knows, let me know. But I just I love little cultural differences like that. But yeah, so he does that little hand motion to Hinata and he tells because he's been watching , I think it might be what, it's one of the spikers, it's Matsukawa, Matsukawa, , and he's like you know, just time your block a little bit differently and you'll be able to do it, and it fucking works. And he, you know, ruffles Hinata's hair and praises him.

rainbow

13:56

The absolute opposite of anything Kageyama would ever do, and Hinata's so excited when he blocks Matsukawa. You see it on his face, like after he gets the block. He's like, yay, I did it. He's like his eyes are all bright and he's blushy. And then I think is this where we go to? Ukai and Takeda on the bench, yes, and Ukai is, or Takeda is reading Ukai like a fucking book. Yes, he.

em

14:17

He knows that Ukai was a little bit worried about wounding Kageyama's pride by benching him, but but, Takeda, and he's completely right, and I'm almost impressed with how well he's analyzing. He's like, yeah, Kageyama is prideful, but his pride and his desire to improve is his strength, and this is what I like about Kageyama too, instead of it just getting to his ego and him being all pissy that he got left off. More than anything, Kageyama just wants to be better, no matter what that means. So he'll take this opportunity to watch his senpai and to learn, and this is just like. This is what I do love about Kageyama, and I've said it before where he is confident, where it's earned, but he's not cocky, yes, and then.

14:51

So suga uses signals to let his spikers know what attack to use next, and it's so funny because Seijoh is still like waiting for those out loud signals and Oikawa has to be like tobio's, not here, they're not going to do the god like quicksand, like oh, so they're getting all like. You know, this was really a good move because they were so used to the brutal and like kind of crazy moves like kagehina were doing. But now we have suga, who is who's much more textbook  and and has tricks up his own sleeve and I.

rainbow

15:19

I think this is an interesting thing. I don't think we see it a ton in Haikyuu, where, like setters get switched out, and I can't help but wonder if that's something that's more common in like professional volleyball, because it's got to be so smart to have two different setters who are like really good and know what they're doing, but have different play styles so you can bring in another setter and just completely change the game. You know, in high school it's probably harder. They only have three years. They might not be at the point like karasuno. I think is very special in that they have an experienced setter in suga, who's like older, and then they have Kageyama, who's experienced in his own way, he's just like younger, and so I think that's very interesting. And then is this the part where we have Daichi talking about how great suga is yeah like we get it.

16:01

Get it, Daichi. You're in love.

em

16:03

Yeah, we have another Daisuga moment where he's like you know, I'm sure when people look at Suga they just feel bad for him as like the third year setter who's on the bench. But Suga's been spending this time watching the team and running simulations in his head and like he was the Karasuno center before Kageyama came along. And that no reason, baby. And Suga, you know, thinks to himself it was just, if it was just me I would lose. But my team is plenty strong, which is again this lesson that Kageyama has to kind of grapple with, and we'll get into this a little bit more later. Oikawa's serve is up and he aims, you know, and he's not resting even though Mr Refreshing is mixing things up. He serves right between Tanaka and Noya.

rainbow

16:39

Yes, which I don't know what they call it in the sub, but in the dub they call it like the hubby hubby wife play, yeah, in the sub.

em

16:45

They don't have a name for it, they just say like he picked an awkward spot because they both kind of start to go for it.

rainbow

16:49

But then and I think I've heard I think later on they say that that's like aiming for the seam, which is like the spot between two players, which not to brag or anything, but when I played volleyball I did not do an overhand serve, I did an underhand serve, but I had pretty good control over it and I was, I was pretty good at serving it into that seam and so like I would get points for my serve just because people were like they, like neither of the people knew what to do and that didn't work as well against, like you know, teams that were maybe a little bit higher level than us but like teams that were kind of on the same level as us or maybe even a little worse, like that kind of tended to get them and like it made me very happy and also maybe held me back a little bit, because then I didn't feel the need to learn an overhand serve yeah, there's always more to learn kids there certainly is and so they say, while Oikawa is serving, if there was an ultimate play in volleyball, it would be 25 service aces in a row I also want to say that Oikawa, before he goes to serve, looks like a psychopath he loves

17:49

to kill people with his serves, and that's just part of Oikawa's personality, where he seems all like bright and bubbly and like I'm so silly, but then like he does have this like intensity to him and I think you can tell that he's not happy about the way that suga is changing the rhythm and so he's like I got to do something about this, and so that's why he uses his serve the way he does.

em

18:08

And so now Daichi calls for it you know to avoid that happening again and receives it, Seijo gets it. And we have another Kagehima Hina moment where it's coming towards Hinata and Kageyama, from the sidelines, is like Hinata, it's a direct and you know, kind of putting Hinata on the spot, who's never had to deal with that before, and he kind of like freezes up, but then he jumps and he gets it over. It's not the best. And then Kageyama's like you suck, and Hinata's like shut up.

rainbow

18:32

I've never done that before.

em

18:39

Yeah, it's, very it's, and like Hinata's little blush when it happens. Having a partner as Kageyama has got to be stressful.

rainbow

18:46

Hinata is literally the only one who could handle it. Yep, yeah, so I love that. And then we like this episode is just about seeing the way that, like Suga, has been preparing this entire time.

em

18:57

Yes, he's ready to play. Bitch Hinata is able to get it over again, remembering Suga's advice with timing. But it is out and Seijo gets the first set and Oikawa thinks to himself, since number two came in, meaning Suga. Even Shrimpy, who used to move on instinct alone, is thinking before he moves. So I feel like Kageyama has this pure genius and talent and can do these crazy moves. But Suga is just like a solid what a setter should be like.

rainbow

19:23

He's thinking through things, he's getting the best out of his spikers, just like Oikawa was kind of showing off in the last episode well, and you know, suga shows like the importance of observation and the importance of planning and we kind of have seen that before where, like he helped Hinata, like with the signals and everything he was like we've got to come up with signals, like he has really good game sense.

19:44

I think so, then you know they're gonna switch sides before they start the second set. And Ukai is talking about we're gonna keep the same lineup and Hinata you don't see Kageyama's face, but you see Hinata looking at Kageyama because of course he is. Of course he's like oh, Kageyama's not gonna be the setter. I should check on him, make sure he's okay Hinata does absolutely.

em

20:04

I mean they both care about each other. But we really see in this episode that Hinata does care about Kageyama in their own rough way. And during this, in between sets, , iwa and Matsukawa are talking and iwa reflects that they've been focusing too hard on the godlike quicks and now they're thrown off by normal attacks. And then we get the iconic iwachan If you think too hard when you don't have a brain, you're going to hurt your head. Yeah, which?

rainbow

20:26

so bold of Oikawa to fucking bully Oizi. It's like you know better than that, Because he immediately gets it.

em

20:33

They're like a childhood friend's more evolved version of Kagehina, where they're not nice to each other, but they're in love.

rainbow

20:39

I have said this before and I will bring it up again. But I I have said this before and I will bring it up again, but I feel like you can kind of look at some of like these ships as like mirror images of Kagehina or different like versions. Like Iwaoi really is just like a childhood AU version of Kagehina.

em

20:53

Yes, and I feel like I've made the point, at least on Twitter, where Kageyama learned how to love watching Iwaoi, because I think Iwazi calls Oikawa bogey, and I think he does. Well, we'll have a flashback later on where he says that where Kageyama overhears it, he's like oh, so that's what you call your loved ones yeah, that's why we get so much bogey.

rainbow

21:11

Totally, yeah, absolutely. Like Kageyama desperately wanted to learn volleyball skills from Oikawa, and instead he learned how to relate to your, your boyfriend from Iwaizumi, which not maybe the best  role models, but it's fine.

em

21:24

Kageyama approaches suga. They talk setter to setter about, you know, Kageyama, and it's funny. He's like  Kindaichi,  onion head, , number 12, you know, is a little bit slow and they're talking setter to setter and Ukai is watching and is happy with how this is turning out. He brought suga in to kind of hopefully help pp up the team, but it's going even better than he expected and he's like we can use this in future matches.

rainbow

21:46

Yeah and I have a note here about how different Suga is from Oikawa because, like before we get into this, this part, I think maybe now is when I want to talk about Oisuga and why they're a fun, rare pair for me. I think it's because they're so like, such opposites in so many ways, but like they both like, I think for me, like Suga being so like secretly chaotic, like it really matches, like I can see. I don't know, I've read a few Oisuga fics but like my, my like picturing them together, like I imagine them like forced proximity and they're like not really gonna get along because Suga like thinks Oikawa's a dick and Oikawa's just like. I don't trust you, mr Refreshing, you're too optimistic and bright. But then Oikawa realizing that Suga has that chaotic instinct in him and them just like bonding.

22:29

I just think they're a really fun, rare pair and if anyone has any ships they want to recommend or not ships, but if anyone has any fix they want to recommend. Please send them my way. , also any arts, any tiktoks, whatever you want to do, let us know about it.

em

22:42

Setter and setter interactions are always kind of fun. Yeah, they're always sniffing each other out absolutely so.

rainbow

22:48

Yeah, then do you want to get into the conversation that suga and Kageyama have?

em

22:54

so suga tells Kageyama that he is happy to know that Kageyama has his back. You know, before he thinks that the pressure would probably get to him. You know it is intense actually being on the court and being aimed for, and in the past it would probably freak him out. But knowing that Kageyama is there to sub in when needed, he can kind of like be way more confident. And I just love their attitude where he's like you know, the points that I get and the points that you get are all points for karasuno. We share the same goal and I just, yeah, I love that. Like, yeah, you can have your fucking rivalries, but you are all on the same team, let's remember well, and it's just such a difference between how Oikawa viewed Kageyama yes and I don't think we've gotten too much into that just yet.

rainbow

23:34

we will probably in like the next episode or so I think. So, yeah, I think you can kind of like you can kind of see from the way that Oikawa treats Kageyama it's not not the way that Suga treats him. But I am excited in the next few episodes and I think we even get into it a little bit more in season two as well. Yeah, and listen, I'm not Oikawa stans.

em

23:50

I'm not villainizing Oikawa here, I just I think there is a lot of difference, because Oikawa is a lot more serious about volleyball.

rainbow

24:07

No-transcript just say Oikawa has a bigger ego than Suga does, and it it is. He is far more  sensitive about it. Like he is, he's far more fragile than Suga is  in lot of ways and again, that's not to like villainize him, that's just.

24:24

You know, he's a character and he has flaws and those flaws affect the way he relates to other characters and I think I think that's very interesting and I think it creates for a fun dynamic and it creates for, like, it creates, a very interesting comparison between Suga and Oikawa. Yeah for sure, Okay. And then. And then Hinata shows a little concern for Kageyama by bullying him.

em

24:46

And you know it's funny because so he's like Kageyama, are you depressed? And you know Kageyama is very defensive and he's just like, don't worry about yourself. What was that direct all about? But I really think that this was genuine concern from Hinata. I don't think he was trying to be like dickish I mean, he can't help but be dickish but like he, I think you know, like you said, he was kind of looking at him and you know he had his boyfriend out for the last half of the first set and you know I think he really was concerned. But then you know, and they bicker about Hinata's bad direct.

rainbow

25:24

And then Kageyama's, like I, with excitement. He can't fucking wait, I love it. Yeah, that really. And that, I think, is that's his way of saying like it's OK, I'm OK, I'm OK, don't worry about me, I got it Start of the second set.

em

25:32

Suki, you know, gets it in and Suga compliments him, and Kagehina are both on the sidelines right now watching no-transcript. No, not true. He does talk to Kagehina episodes ago and he talked to.

rainbow

25:53

Tanaka in an episode, True, so you know. Maybe the third time we've heard him speak. Yeah, Enoshita, out of all, out of the three NPCs, Enoshita gets the most characterization in the most lines.

em

26:05

And he says to them you know, it's not Suga being overly buddy-buddy, like he's not being fake with it, but Suga is reading his spikers, emotions, and talks to them depending on how they're feeling. And Kageyama, who of course has the social skills of a rock, kind of makes a face at this and Inoshita completely calls him out. He's like oh, you're thinking like, why should I have to match other other people, especially that jerks Kishima and Kageyama's like no, I wasn't. And Hinata just literally goes. And in the next shot, which is my favorite mini kagehina moment, where Kageyama is trying to attack Hinata and they have like their hands clasped together, they're holding hands waffle style, waffle style, all the while, like Kageyama still has his eyes on inoshita and is continuing the conversation like everything is normal and inoshita is just ignoring it because everyone's just used to them at this point and this is just what they do and I just love listen.

rainbow

26:56

Everybody has like talked about this moment endlessly, about. They're just like holding hands and like fighting, and it's just like listen. We've all been young and like maybe other people haven't experienced but this, but I've definitely experienced the whole like I want to touch you, but I don't know why I want to touch you and so I'm going to find ways to do it and it's just like you know.

em

27:16

It's just they don't know that they have these feelings for each other yeah, it's very much play fighting to flirt and you can't tell me otherwise. So the conversation continues and Inoshita points out that when Hinata is having a hard time, Kageyama will switch things up. And Kageyama says, yeah, he misses easily. And Inoshita is like well, do that for everyone and not just your boyfriend, dmy. It's the same exact thing that Oikawa was kind of showing us in the last episode, that if you can bring out 100 in all, we have a strong team, don't we? We have a lot of good spikers, not just Hinata and if you can bring out 100 in all of them, they can get past the blocks.

rainbow

27:47

And I think that's when it really kind of starts to click for Kageyama of like, oh, I've been too focused on my crazy boyfriend and I need to be able to connect with all my spikers, like suga can well and kind of in a way, because, like suga has said before, like the whole team is strong, we have, like we have a bunch of good spikers, and I think for Kageyama he kind of took that as like, okay, I don't need to worry about them as much, I can just send them tosses and they'll get it and I can focus on Hinata and our quick, because that's like the fun part for him. I think, yeah, and so this is him really realizing that oh, if I do for everyone else what I'm doing for Hinata, that's going to be even more fun because everyone's going to be successful so Karasuno has switched up the rotation for the second set.

em

28:26

They're putting Daichi and Noya in the back to beef up their defense, because they know their biggest obstacle is Oikawa's S. It seems to be working. Daichi receives Oikawa's first set, suga gives it to Tanaka, determining that he's the best spiker to hand it over, and Tanaka gets it through. We have an OiDaichi moment, I think, because you know, Daichi kind of gives Oikawa a look when he gets it, and then Oikawa thinks to himself well done, captain.

rainbow

28:51

Yeah they share, like they share a couple looks because of that and I love, I love a captain to captain moment. I love a little, I love a little smirk between the captains and actually I just thought about that. That kind of mirrors something that happens in season four a little bit. I can bring that up in the spoiler zone okay, so we're halfway through the second set.

em

29:10

, karasuno is only a point ahead. They're doing well, but you know, Seijoh is strong. Oikawa thinks to himself. Mr refreshing isn't a weak setter, but his attacks are textbook.

rainbow

29:20

He doesn't do anything reckless yeah, and I love so in the dub. You know, I know in the sub he just keeps calling him mr refreshing and the dub it's funny calls him mr optimistic. And then my favorite, which is mr sunshine and rainbows. Oh my god, they really like to get creative in the dub. H, oh my god, oi, suga, single parent AU, where Ikawa is a busy father of a child and Suga is the teacher. I want that in my life. I'm sure it's out there. It better be anyway. That's definitely not inspired by the Hank and Connor fanfic I've been reading.

em

29:50

What do y'all know about Detroit become?

rainbow

29:53

han. , yeah, and so yeah, because Suga really improved the team's morale and like he knew that like Tanaka's gonna get the spike in and it's gonna be great, and I, like Kagehina, react to Tanaka's cool spike and they're like, oh, it's so cool, like I love how. Like they're both just like freaks who love volleyball and they love cool plays yeah, that's what's gonna bond them at the end of the day always and then we even have Oikawa giving his team a little pep talk.

30:17

I think he recognizes that like, okay, mr refreshing is over there boosting up karasuno and I need to boost my team and he knows how to do that, and I don't think this is him being like he's not being manipulative here, but like Oikawa is not afraid to use manipulation, yeah, like he's not afraid to like play with people's emotions if he needs to. But I do like this because, like I don't know, I kind of wish we could see a little bit more of like what it's like during practice for them, because I, you know, Oikawa cares about the game and he cares about winning and he cares about, like his spikers being able to play and he really this is like just a moment of being like come on, guys.

em

30:48

Like we can do this. Yeah, Seijoh is starting to gain on them now because, yeah, suga's been able to pull some fast ones on them. But I think since Oikawa's clocking like all right, like you use your left a lot, you know nothing reckless is happening we can kind of start to anticipate some of these attacks. And Kageyama is getting ready, he's ready to get back on the court. You can see it, he's clenching his fists, , and they Ukai does call him over, and suga knows he has about one more play left. And then we have I love when the original three are original threeing, because Asahi's like Suga, bring the next one to me, I will get it over so serious and cool.

rainbow

31:21

I'm surprised we don't have Noya like having like hard eyes at Asahi when he's doing this that's off camera well, and I just think you know, kind of like.

31:29

But right before we get to this, this play, you know we have Kageyama recognizing why he got benched in middle school. Like he says, like he's like, he recognizes, he's like when I was in middle school and I got benched, I thought it was because I wasn't useful to the game and that was probably true in that instance. But that's not what's happening here. Yes, which you know.

em

31:48

Just we got some growth there yeah, and we have like yeah, suga's like I want to stay on for a little bit more and Kageyama's like I want to get on the court. You know they both want to they want to fight-o.

rainbow

31:57

Yeah, I kind of smed it up into like I want to play a little longer.

em

32:00

Yes, now it is time for them to switch out. And Suga says to Kageyama as they're switching, it's a bit frustrating, but Hinata's face when he hits your toss and , oh my god I'm silently screaming into the mic because I don't want to blow out the sound, but oh my god Ukai tells suga he did well and next time he can use the center more aggressively. Suga is very happy to hear the words.

rainbow

32:24

Next time, yes, and I want to talk about that a little, a little bit, because actually right before when Kageyama is getting switched out, he goes to say to Kageyama, go win this. And he pauses because go win. This means like him handing the baton to Kageyama and saying, like it's your turn, I'm I'm ceding the center position to you officially. But he stops himself and then he says let's win.

em

32:47

Thank you for explaining that, because I never really understood what was going on in that moment.

rainbow

32:51

Yeah, that's what's going on in that moment is like he changed. He he's about to say like you go like kind of almost like a dad, like like go win this for go win the, go win the game, son. And instead he's like no, I'm still on this team, I'm still a setter, like let's win this. And then I will say the dub doesn't handle that, you guys. So suga moment, so great.

33:10

I don't know if it's a mouth mouth flap thing, I don't know if it's them not understanding the significance of what's being said, but you guys says something of just like oh yeah, we've got to like keep pushing this. It doesn't really make a lot of sense. It makes more sense in the sub, where he says next time. And then Takeda says like you know and like because then Suga is all just like thank you so much and like bows and is like kind of high energy and you guys like a little shocked by he's, like I don't understand what just happened there. And then Takeda explains he's like you said next time and like he loved hearing that. Yeah, so I was. I was disappointed in the dub in that moment the nuances that are lost.

em

33:43

I'll tell you, . And then we end the episode with suga saying to move forward, we need he's like, all our spikers are strong, but to really move forward with Seijoh, we need our decoy at 100. The only one who can do that is Kageyama. All righty, okay, here we go. And that's the end of , the best episode ever , it's just.

rainbow

34:04

I mean, listen, it's so good. Yeah, I'm excited for the next episode. I'm excited we're really getting to it. We've got 22, 23, 24. Those are the. That's the end of the Seijoh match and then we've got one more episode of 25 yeah, that wraps up season one. We're so close to the end. Can you believe it? Can you believe it listeners? Can you tell me ?

em

34:26

yeah are we ready to move on? Yeah, let's get into our character spotlight. And I just who are we doing? Matsukawa Issei? Yeah, I just want to say real quick so the Haikyuu fandom is kind of split into sectors in a way. You could you have neighborhoods of ships.

rainbow

34:41

Let's say you've got the Kagehina neighborhood, you've got Nekoma, alleyway, and then I think another huge sector is Iwaoi, but also like Seijo, like people love Hanamaki and Matsukawa as well, and I just want to say, if any of you are in that sector and you've stuck with us in this podcast, I thank you because I know we're kagehina heavy, but , we're gonna give some love to your faves yeah, yeah, we, you know, we love Seijo too and I think, you know, I think a lot of that comes from the fact that Seijo is such a big focus of season one and two and so many people love them and like, a lot of people love like, they call it the Seijoh for, like, yeah, why's the miyoyikawa, Matsukawa and hanamaki, and so, and, and originally we weren't really sure who we were gonna do for the character spotlight and I almost was like, do you just want to talk about, like, the three setters and compare them? But we kind of did that in the episode, and so, because Matsukawa has a single line in this episode which which and I do love him I think he's an interesting character. He's one of those characters who like, first of all, he looks a lot like another character that we meet in season two, but he's just like, he's very blank faced, he kind of looks bored all the time, but he's a really good player, he knows what he's doing. I think he's the number two, even because Uesi is the ace, so he has the number four, yeah, so I want to just, I just I have something very brief for his, his personality. I will say his wiki is a lot shorter than some of the other players.

35:56

Awaisi and Oikawa are the focuses of Seijo. They get a little bit more love, but we're about to give you some love. Matsukawa, I think they call him Matsukan, okay, or Matsu-chan I think Oikawa calls him Matsu-chan, of course. Of course he does. He loves Sata-chan. . So his personality although he can seem intimidating because of his height and blocking ability, he is shown to be actually quite easygoing and good-natured, enjoying a good joke and poking fun at his friends. He is also shown to have incredibly high game sense.

em

36:23

There's like extra content with the Seijo 4. That is really fun and we get a little bit more of his personality and like how they all feel about Oikawa and stuff like that.

rainbow

36:32

Yeah, yeah, I totally agree and yeah, I think he's interesting. I didn't realize he was a middle blocker. Sometimes with some of these characters, like on these teams, like if they don't say explicitly what position they are, like obviously if they're setter, that's pretty easy to understand, or if they're the Libro, but otherwise I'm like who's a wingspiker, who's a middle blocker, like I don't know? Yeah, so quick name meaning his family name Matsukawa is pine tree, river , and I think we talked about it when we talked about Oikawa's name. But kawa is river  and that's that's found in a lot of. I think it's found in a lot of japanese names in general, but I think also in a lot of Seijoh names kawa is there. So I don't know if maybe, like their school's supposed to be like near a river it's like because the the it's their blue castle and so their river.

em

37:16

They're the moats of the castle oh, that makes so much sense.

rainbow

37:20

You're welcome everybody. , yeah, so that's Matsukawa, and then his given name, issei, is quiet one. Well, that makes sense. They say he's quiet. Yeah, totally makes sense. , so he goes to Aoba Johsai high school. He's in class 3-1. His position is middle blocker. His height is 6'2. I don't think of him as one of the tall ones, but he totally is. Yeah, he's taller than  tsukishima. His birthday is march 1st, which means he's a. He's a pisces. And how do we feel about that?

em

37:48

do we know enough about him? Is he the one? Is this spoilers funny if I about his career, I think it might be a little spoilery, we can talk.

rainbow

37:55

We can talk about this in the spoilers on everyone.

em

37:57

But you know it's another character where, like, I don't really get enough of his personality. So sure he's a Pisces, I love it.

rainbow

38:02

Sure, his favorite food is cheeseburgers, which I love Honestly, me too. That's think they eat like hamburger in Japan, but I think it's very different. I don't think they like I've seen from the anime that I've seen again, I'm not an expert on the culture or anything.

38:18

I haven't even watched food wars, so  but I think when they eat like hamburger, I think it's more like they eat it like with a fork and knife on a plate, more than just that. But maybe he is like, maybe you know, I'm sure they have McDonald's in Tokyo. Oh, yeah, for sure, I'm sure they have like American food places that sell cheeseburgers. And then his current worry is that people say his school uniform doesn't look good on him, which disagree. Honestly, I hate the Seijo school uniforms. I hate their weird plaid pants.

em

38:47

It's definitely interesting. I think that the current worries just give us the best insight into their personalities, because that tells me so much more about Matsukawa than anything else ever has. Yes, yeah.

rainbow

38:58

He's like. It's like what do you people think I don't look good in my school uniform? What? Yeah, anyway, just going to drag the Seijo uniforms for a second. I think their stupid tan jackets are db, I hate. I usually like a school uniform with a tie and a jacket. Like I'm not as big of a fan of the military style one. That's how I feel too. I'm like opposite of Noya. But I think Seijoh's just like. I don't like the colors very much. I think maybe part of it, because, like I, you know, if you've seen orikawa, an official in an official art where he's not wearing a uniform, that boy has no fucking style, none, none whatsoever. Like what are you doing? Those like played shorts? They plague me, oh my gosh. And with the hoodie I can't, I cannot. So yeah, anyway, you know it, Matsukawa, you nobody looks good in that uniform.

em

39:42

So you're fine you know it's so funny because you're such a nice like, you're so rarely a hater, so the things you hate on are always just such a delight to me yeah and they're like, they're usually pretty random things too yeah, I love fashion, I can't help it.

rainbow

39:59

, okay, on to his five point ability parameters. His jumping is only a two, which is interesting, but you know, as a tall middle blocker, I guess that that makes sense. His speed, his technique and his intelligence are all threes, and then his power and his stamina are fours. All around, a decent player, yeah. Yeah, pretty well rounded. He could use a little bit more jumping, but you know, does he need to? Anything else you want to say about Matsukawa? I'll save it for the spoiler zone.

em

40:24

Okay, cool. Now it's time for the world's favorite game. It's who and haikyuu. The scenario is brought to us by one from our email and it is what are their ideal vacation spots? Beach, mountains, etc.

rainbow

40:38

Yeah and I just want to say so. When one sent this , Haikyuu suggest this who? And Haikyuu suggestion in, it was very much like who prefers the beach versus who prefers the mountains, and one. I hope you're okay with this, but I wanted to kind of expand it and like have other options as well I mean, I'm sure definitely some of these people will be beach versus mountains, but I think there's also city, there's like countryside. I think there's kind of other options we can look at there.

em

41:01

Yeah, today we're talking about Hinata Kageyama, suga Daichi tanaka Noya Asahi Oikawa uaizi Ukai Takeda, Kiyoko Matsukawa and kindai chi.

rainbow

41:12

Yeah, so Hinata is anywhere with the volleyball yeah, he knows I'm talking about both, but I think I could see. You know, just because of his name being sunshine, I think he enjoys a beach vacation. Yeah, I think he wants to. I think he is on the beach all day. I think he's running around, he's playing every game, he's building sand castles, he's getting buried in the sand, he's going in and out of the water.

em

41:34

He is constantly being reminded to put on sunscreen, like he's having a fun time, whereas Kageyama might just want to go somewhere where he has access to volleyball courts yeah, I definitely think.

rainbow

41:45

So I think I could kind of see him enjoying like a quiet, like mountain retreat kind of thing where there's space for volleyball. Yeah, , and just like I think, yeah, I think, like Kageyama Hinata is like dragging Kageyama to the beach and Kageyama is like sitting under an bumbrella yeah, I don't know if Kageyama really reads to me as a vacation guy anyway, no, yeah, like he's not vacationing anywhere.

em

42:08

He's like going a vacation for him is a training camp, exactly like I don't think either of them are the type because there are, like, people who like to just do nothing and relax for vacation, and then there's people who like to fill their itineraries to the brim and they're definitely the more active types.

rainbow

42:23

Yeah for sure. What's Suga doing? I could see Suga. I think Suga wants to go to like a big city. I think he wants to go and like have fun, I think.

em

42:31

Suga wants to go to like a big theme park.

rainbow

42:35

You're right.

em

42:35

Universal Disney World, like I think, six Flags, yeah, like you know, the thrill of a coaster.

rainbow

42:42

Yeah, absolutely I think. Yeah, I think he likes to do that, but I'm talking like that can kind of be a day trip thing, or I guess, if you're talking, about Disney or Universal, that can be.

em

42:49

Yeah, that's, I'm thinking like a proper vacation at like a really big theme park kind of thing.

rainbow

42:53

But I could see him, like you know, outside of that. I could definitely see him going to like a big city and wanting to enjoy the nightlife and try a bunch of different food and stuff. Yeah, I can see that Daichi is giving mountains. He wants to go for hikes.

em

43:06

I, you know, because I kind of I, you know, he is a dad in my mind. He's at the Sandals Resort, all expenses paid, yes, a swim up bar, and he wants to be left the fuck alone by his kids.

rainbow

43:17

You're right, You're right, totally, totally All right. Tanaka is another like kind of more active one. I think he wants to go like rock climbing and he wants to go climb a mountain, yeah, and I feel like he's the type , who kind of repels against the city.

em

43:33

I think he thinks it's too loud and crazy and he would definitely be more of a countryside kind of boy yeah, for sure. And then Noya wants to go everywhere everywhere and he wants to do it like adventure type stuff. So parasailing, skydiving, you know anything where that happens yeah, also.

rainbow

43:49

he Asahi wants to go to the countryside. Yes, he wants to have it. He wants to rent a nice cabin or cottage away from the noise, and he wants to relax and just have a lovely time.

em

43:58

Maybe with a, you know, to play into their ship name of AsaNoya, like just with a lovely view of a mountain. Yeah, right he wants to watch the sunset and the sunrise? Yeah. Him and nishiNoya have to compromise, like okay, this is our day where we just get to like hang out, and then we can go skydiving the next day.

rainbow

44:16

Yeah, absolutely, they're like taking turns for sure.  Oikawa, he is going. He is like luxury vacation. He's going on the like the high-end cruise.

em

44:27

He is I love you. I was gonna say put that man on a cruise. He's going on a cruise and Iwaizumi is like cruises are so cringe, but he's there he's there with yeah, Oikawa is sitting by the pool.

rainbow

44:39

He's like he's in a cabana. He's calling for the drink boy. There is a person fanning him like he is living up to his king name when he is on vacation. Yes, , oh, my god, now I wish we could have had an episode where like or like or something is there a fic out there where, like, all of the teams like, end up at the same vacation spot? , yeah, and then Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi is also giving like more mountains, like active, I see him in a hot spring. He wants to go camping.

em

45:09

Yeah, Iwaizumi wants to go camping, oh my god. Yeah, that's definitely something that they fight over. Because he wants to go camping, but Oikawa will only do the most like glamping version of that.

rainbow

45:17

Yeah Oikawa was like okay, but I'm bringing an entire, I'm bringing two suitcases and I'm bringing a generator and I need a face mask I need air conditioning, yeah whereas Iwaizumi is like no, we are catching and cooking all of our food, and I will personally fight off a bear if I have to.  oh, which would you rather run into? A bear in the random bear in the woods or a random haikyuu character?

em

45:43

that is a dangerous game to play because it's like that could be wonderful or horrifying. Yeah, it depends on who it is I don't know why.

rainbow

45:49

Well, you know, you could use bear spray on the haikyuu characters as well. , okay, Ukai doesn't want to do anything on vacation. He wants to go and lay and smoke. He wants to lay on a beach and smoke cigarettes, or he? I don't think he cares about the particular setting, he just wants to do nothing oh yeah, I feel like he's not fancy.

em

46:06

I feel like a vacation to him is going to the next town over, you're right and not having to work at the store. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. What about? Takeda Takeda I feel like I want. He's going to new york city, he's seeing plays, he's taking in the culture yeah, yeah, he's gonna.

rainbow

46:20

He's gonna go to the low, he's gonna go to the ballet. , yeah, definitely that I could also see him, like you know, just like calmly, like sipping wine at like a lakeside or something. Yeah, napa, exactly, yes, yeah, he's going. He is going on a wine tour in napa.

46:38

sorry, this is all very, , united states based he's also, he's going to paris and he's spending an entire month walking around the louvre. He's like sitting I. I actually see Takeda vacationing in France. The vision is visioning. He is eating a croissant by the Tour des Filles. I didn't say that very well, but the Eiffel Tower.

em

47:00

Rainbow's been to Paris and she's flexing.

rainbow

47:03

Just a little bit. He's in the Arc de Triomphe, champs-élysées, all of that, oui, oui, the catacombs he's stealing a bone, which I didn't, but I wanted to. They don't. They don't make it easy to take a bone from the catacombs. Weird, which, yeah, honestly, that's probably disrespectful to the dead or whatever.

em

47:21

But okay, we're moving on Kiyoko , Kiyoko, I could see her.

rainbow

47:27

I could see her like a nice, like lovely, like very simple, maybe like a beach vacation. Maybe she's going to like a nice lake, something kind like she wants to relax and have a good time, maybe like a hot spring. You know, she's going to an onsen, that kind of place. Yeah, Matsukawa, Matsukawa, okay, well, based on, , he he's going to get a new school uniform. I could see him going to a city, though, and, like you know, not like, not like hyped in the way that like suga is, but I could see him just wanting to like explore and like see, see, like the fun sites of like a tokyo, like he's going to osaka, he's going to like those kind of places.

I think he would go to like a haunted hotel. Oh, you're right, you're right. Yeah, I think so too.

rainbow

48:08

Yeah, he's going to like those kind of places. I think he would go to like a haunted hotel. Ooh, you're right. You're right. Yeah, I think so too. Yeah, he's going, he's taking the ghost tours. He's going to Savannah, georgia, and he's going on the ghost tours. He's going to Charleston, south Carolina, and he's going to go see those racist ghosts.

Kindaichi is running into Oikawa on the cruise.

rainbow

48:28

Yeah, oh, , Kindaichi is running into Oikawa on the cruise. Yeah, oh, yeah, Kindaichi, okay, so Oikawa is staying like on, like I don't know how cruises work. I asse like a higher floor is is more expensive. Oikawa is staying in like a bigger room where there's lots of size for him, and Iwaizumi, and Kindaichi is in one of like the tiny cabins. Kindaichi is working the cruise. Kindaichi is like. Kindaichi was like I will work 70 hours a week for shit pay so that I can like , so I can have a free vacation. Yeah, , which isn't a free vacation at all. Don't work for cruises, it's they try to get you.

48:58

They try to act like it's a great experience. It's not. It's gonna be terrible. I don't have experience, but I looked into it. I don't think you should do it interesting.

em

49:06

well, I feel like working anywhere. That is fun. You're just watching people have fun.

rainbow

49:11

Yeah, you're like you're being worked to death and especially with something like a cruise, like people have spent like a lot of money and they feel entitled and they feel like they own you. They feel like you're their servant and, of course, that's not every single person. But you know, I worked. You know, the place that I grew up was very touristy and I worked in like a hospitality type area. I worked in a, in an arcade, and like just the way people think that they can just talk, how that they think they own you. Yeah, when they're spending money at your place of business and like it is like I tell people that I used to work at an arcade and they're like that must have been so much fun and I'm like what makes you think it was? No, I had to clean the public restrooms. It's not fun. Do you know how angry people get when they lose a quarter in a game? Oh, my God. Yeah, okay, so this yeah.

49:57

I feel, like we always say this is fun after we do a who and Haikyuu. Well, you know what it is. They're always fun. It's always fun to do. Write in, tell us the characters. Ideal vacations would be. Again, I think when we get into season two, season three, season four, we'll probably repeat a lot of these scenarios because I want to talk about this with other characters as well.

rainbow

51:14

Oh, I liked that I don't even need to do a special voice for that.

em

51:17

That was adorable all right, I have a few things to say yeah, we just have a few things.

rainbow

51:22

Do you want to talk about your Matsukawa stuff?

em

51:24

okay, and I want to just make sure I'm not talking out of my ass here but isn't Matsukawa the one who ends up being a funeral director?

rainbow

51:31

Yeah, are you?

em

51:32

looking it up. Yes, which is why I said the thing about the haunted house. Oh wait, am I wrong? Yeah, no, I'm right. Okay, so he is currently working at a funeral home in Miyagi, so I think that that's just like another one. Like in Miyagi. So I think that that's just like another one. Like that's such a random job to me and you know, we don't, like I said, we don't know a lot about his personality, but I like that he's a spooky bitch well, I do like that.

rainbow

51:56

He's a spooky bitch. He's definitely like blink-facedly watching horror movies and like is not fazed by them at all. , and it could be a family business. That could be the case that maybe he's like a training to take over for, you know, his father or something. Maybe he's just like not really that, you know, some people aren't as freaked out by dead bodies as other people. And he's just like, yeah, I'll do some embalming. Couldn't be me. I'm personally not a big fan of it, but you do you, honey boo boo, he's cremating people. Yeah, do you, honey boo boo, he's cremating people?

em

52:28

yeah, , he's getting away with murder. I'm sure there's some fun fics with this. Like universe, I'm absolutely, , yeah.

rainbow

52:35

And then we just have like a few other things. I think there's some fun like foreshadowing here again, like talking about suga being like he becomes a kindergarten teacher in the time skip and this episode, more than any other, really shows like how he because like the way he goes in and he just like is giving a pep talk, like and that's why I said what I said about the Oisuga teacher, single parent AU because I just think that would be fun. But like I just think Suga's probably such a fan, like he's going to be a fantastic teacher and we see it right here with the way he interacts with everybody. Similar to that, I think, when we see Noshida talking to Kagehina, we're seeing that like you know, he's going to be a good captain and Kagehina's second year. You know Noshida is the captain and we're really seeing like this makes sense. This is this is probably why he was picked.

53:20

Yeah, and I don't know who picks the captain. I don't know if it's like the current captain picks the next captain or if it's the coaches, or like I'm sure it's different for every team. Yeah, , I would be. That's something I would love to know. Furo date. Maybe you could give us some insight into that , I'd love to know how inoshida becomes the captain. And then, the last thing I want to bring up is when we talked about Daichi making that save from  Oikawa's serve and then then making eye contact, that there's a similar moment in season four when they're playing, Inarizaki and Kita is brought on to the  court and I think it's Daichi maybe does like a spike yeah and Kita saves it and they have like a moment where Kita's just like yeah, I just saved that.

54:03

What are you gonna do about it? Captain captain, recognized captain captain, yeah, all, all of the captains,  getting together au win they already exist.

em

54:13

I'm sure there needs to be a pretty setters club and a captain club a libros club, ace club.

rainbow

54:22

Yes, absolutely so. I think that's all I have for the spoiler zone. , we're fucking so excited to see what's going on it is. It is kind of sad, like, seeing the way Suga turns this game around and it's not. It's not like it was for nothing. It was really important for, like, character development and for the team, but, like, ultimately they still lose to Seijo yeah, well, and like, and we'll see, because you know I believe they win the second set.

54:43

And then like, I mean they, they were close you know, yeah, I mean this is about to be an intense three episodes we're gonna talk about like very excited and like I think Oikawa's like has a certain intensity and I think it's important to note that in this one, like Oikawa was like kind of like kind of scrambling to like not he wasn't even really scrambling, but like he was like okay, I have to adjust, yeah to to mr refreshing now and then Kageyama is being brought in but like ultimately that doesn't necessarily like it doesn't scramble him enough. Like Oikawa still maintains his focus and you know, and Kageyama, even though he just learned this important lesson, it's going to take time for that to sink in, for him to be able to really apply that on the court the way that he needs to to beat Oikawa, yeah for true, all right, all right.
