hello everyone and welcome to fly a queer Haikyuu podcast. I'm rainbow they she

em

and i’m em she her

rainbow

And today we are going to talk about season 2, episode 11 above

em

they're all above me now, papa

rainbow

yeah, I think it'll be fun to talk about what that means.

00:28

that title But before we get into the episode, we have just a tiny bit of housekeeping compared to last week. and just a reminder that next week we are taking a little mid-season break to do a bonus episode about rare pears. And I did want to mention because I got all excited to talk about the opening and ending song, because I thought surely this is like the end of one arc and we're transitioning to another arc, surely the opening and ending will change? No, we've got these openings and endings for like another, like three or four episodes so we'll talk about that in a little bit. But I do consider this like the end of an arc and the beginning of another, like we're leaving training camp, we're getting into tournament time, and so that to me means it's time for a little midseason break. We're very excited and I think it's now time for your recap, son ni ichi.

em

01:19

It's the final day of the training camp arc. Will Karasuno take the final set from Fukurodani? Can the barbecue scene in this episode cure seasonal depression? Yes, strap in for some meaty hijinks as we wrap up everybody's favorite arc. Say goodbye to some faves and get ready to take on challengers, new and old, in the upcoming tournament so, jumping right into this episode, we have, again, Bokuto being fucking dramatic, Bokuto's having a fitskies.

rainbow

01:44

He's like, he literally like seems like he's like crying, he's having a temper tantrum, he really is. And then Karasuno, because Bokuto is out of commission. Now they think they have a chance of beating Fukuro Donnie, but Akashi and the others are like think again, bitches.

em

01:59

Yeah you really thought I think Akashi's reaction is so perfect. They're really gentle parenting Bokuro right now because he doesn't feed into. When Bokuro is like, don't toss to me anymore, Akaashi doesn't feed into it and he's just like okay, you have your cool down moment in the corner and let your big brothers take care of it for you, because that's what they described. They say you know, at a glance you think Bokuro is the big brother leading this team because he's so strong. In reality, he's like the baby brother and this team is so strong that they can cover when he gets like this. And Bokuto is really more like a power up than anything to this already strong team of owls.

rainbow

02:36

Yeah, and I don't. I don't think this is a spoiler. I think this is like side material, like bonus material, but I think we do learn that Bokuto is. I think he is the youngest. I think he has like two older sisters, maybe even three, I think, at some point.

em

02:48

So that makes sense he's giving me that he comes from a family of strong lesbians yes, absolutely yeah, like kiba from naruto, this is where we get Akaashi's setter dump right. We watch him trick Kageyama of all people, because he's like, okay, okay, well, is he going to do this attack, is he going to do this? Is number four finally going to do something again? And then he does the dump and looks beautiful while doing it.

rainbow

03:11

if I may add, Coming down from that setter dump. It's definitely one of those like screenshots that I see when people talk about how pretty he is because he is gorgeous.

em

03:20

A setter is never more beautiful than when they're coming down from a setter dump. That no one was expecting.

rainbow

03:26

Absolutely. And we get a word from Ukai which I appreciate. He says Fukurodani isn't a team in which Bokuto leads, but rather they're a team where everyone else leads the way for.

em

03:37

Bokuto yes, exactly, and Akashi waits for the perfect moment to then set to Bokuto. He kind of waits for Bokuto because you know he's sitting there and he's got this look on his face. He's just like it's so funny.

rainbow

03:54

He looks lost. He's like a lost little boy who doesn't know what to do or where to go. But he's like now getting antsy because Akashi mentions it. He's like OK, and I think it's set point right, like they're at 23, karasuno, 24, Fukurodani and Tsukki's been doing pretty good with the blocking. And we see Kuroo notice from the other side of the gym.

04:08

Kuroo is actively playing another game and notices how good Tsukishima is doing. Kuroo, suki fans, I see you. And then we get yeah, Akaashi sends it straight to Bokuto and Bokuto slams it through. And I think you see Tsukishima realize he's going for Bokuto and he goes to like help Kageyama with the block. Because this is one of those times when it's Kageyama and Tsukishima up at the net together blocking and I kind of love when they have to, when they're forced to work together, but Tsukishima does not make it in time and Bokuto is able to slam it through and the way that Akashi signals to the others like okay, if you would please, and they're like we got it and they just start like praising Bokuto.

04:45

I know well before that we get Tsukishima's little or no, Akaashi's little smirk at Tsukishima because he is cunty AF. In that moment he's just like hmm, yeah, you thought you had this figured out you don't yeah, and I do, yeah, I love leaving the rest of the team to cheer Bokuto.

05:02

But you hear the managers like, while the other, while the guys are like, yeah, there we go, ace, we knew you could do it. Like blah, blah, blah. We hear like the manager say something and one of them says you look like your hair exploded in the dub and it's so funny.

em

05:15

Is that supposed to be a compliment?

rainbow

05:17

I don't, I, I don't know. I wonder, because, like the other manager says something else, that, like I, it almost feels like they're trying to balance out the praise where they're like, okay, don't hype him up too much. Let's also remind him that he's a silly little guy. Before Bokuto gets the ball, it's Asahi serving for that last point. And you see him thinking he's like I don't want to fuck up this serve because otherwise Fukuro Donnie will win. But then and this is something we've seen before where, as he realizes that he was too easy with his serve because he was afraid it was going to go out, and Ukai talks about how, like the team isn't going to be mad at you if you go all out and it's, and you you fuck up a little like it's. It's worse to go easy on it on them and to give them a ball that's easy to receive. It's better to go for the the harder serve.

06:04

As Oikawa would say if you're gonna hit it, hit it till it breaks and you guys just talking about their team and how they're coming together, and he says this offense will work. And I take it against any of the top teams in the country, feeling confident, yes, and then we get another poetic talk at a moment. And what do you think of this little metaphor?

em

06:23

it's yeah, he waxes poetic about like when colors mix together, they create black, and it's like all the colors together and they're strong. And you know, it's a metaphor for all of them mixing their strengths together into one solid unit. And it completely goes over KageHina's head. Because they don't. They don't have reading comprehension skills. They have no idea.

rainbow

06:43

I personally love this I mean as a goth who loves black and thinks it is the superior of all colors and I think it's important for this training camp arc, because what he's saying is the colors mix together and they get kind of muddy and like it shows you being kind of like brown and like discolored, and it doesn't look that great. But then once it all comes together to form that black, it is like unbeatable. And of course, black is the main color of their uniform. So I just I fucking love Takeda. And then we're going into a little, individual practice and suga wants to hit a few sets because Noya is trying to to set to Asahi and to not get a practice. And suga comes over, like me too, and they're like, oh, you're gonna toss for us, like no, I'm going to be a hitter. And he just looks so cute.

em

07:27

Kageyama relents that they were unable to take that set from Fukurodani if they had just gotten that quick down faster. And Hinata, of course, is not deterred. He reaches up to the sun and is like, yeah, but we can fight now. Like even against strong teams we have options to fight. And Kageyama who won't, who has to be stubborn? Is like yeah, but it all depends on my toss. And I'm like have you learned nothing well?

rainbow

07:47

be. And Hinata feels the same way because he's just like he, almost he's very dismissive with that. He's like, yeah, but you're gonna get it. You're like you're gonna be fine, you're gonna get the sets, because Hinata is as confident as ever in his setter's ability. And then I love this moment. I don't know how it goes down in the sub, but in the dub Kageyama gets all mad. He's like don't just assume stuff about me on your own. And then Hinata's walking away and he's like so what? You won't be able to do it. He's like, of course I'll be able to do it. And Hinata's like see, that's what I'm talking about. And then Tsukishima has like a shitty, like a bitchy little comment about them being stupid and yamaguchi snickers and it's just a very cute, like first year's moment.

em

08:23

It's very married coded because it's pretty much the same in the sub. And it's just what I cannot get over is the is the absolute assumption from Hinata. It's like, well, you're going to be fine, so what are you freaking out about? And Kageyama just can't be normal and take the, take the praise for what it is and has to fight him on it. And yeah, it really. Oh, my God, god, I want to kill them both. It's like the perfect example of why I love them so much and what I love about their dynamic and Tsukki laughing at them. I'm like looking at them, like, well, you're gay too, so you're laughing pretty loud for two gay people.

rainbow

08:53

Okay, it's like yeah let's, let's turn back the dial a couple episodes to. All you need is pride.

em

08:59

Okay, pot kettle, cut the cameras we have the senpais and Asahi's kind of being negative again, of like well, we might not be here, Like we might not make it to the training camp again if we don't like do well or whatever. And this is when we have Suka being like negativity be gone and he hits Asahi. And what I really love, too, is Daichi imitates Kageyama and is like Hinata okay.

09:28

They're all just kind of making fun of their first years. And then Hinata when Daishi has that moment, Hinata does the little like oh gosh, I feel like I'm being yelled at more than usual. Like he senses the Kageyama presence. Yeah, exactly. And then it is barbecue time. I said this little barbecue sequence has got to be the equivalent of like a 75 milligram antidepressant dose. Like I just feel okay when I'm watching this scene.

rainbow

09:41

Yeah, it feels like I took like a two to one THC CBD gummy and just like nothing is wrong in the world and everything is great.

em

09:50

And it does make me want to eat Japanese barbecue, specifically because it looks so freaking good, the colors are so bright and everyone is just having a good little time, and then, unfortunately, we have some annoying Kiyoko content.

rainbow

10:04

The Kiyoko protection squad, I will say I think this is one of like the funniest instances of this. Like it is annoying that they're just like it's it's the possessiveness of it. I think that bothers me, that, like Noya Tanaka and yamamoto are like we're the ones who love Kiyoko the most and we won't let her get hit on by anybody else, and it's like, first of all, Kiyoko has proven that if she's being hit on and she doesn't want it, she will take care of that.

em

10:31

What is really my favorite part about this, though, is that suki knows that Noya is the leader, because he's the only one that's actually been slapped by Kiyoko, and I want to know how suki got this information I love to think that he just overheard that.

rainbow

10:45

I'm sure Tsukishima is observing things all the time and is taking in information he doesn't even want.

em

10:50

For sure, and I can also see Noya being the type to just put this information on to Tsukishima, who has never asked for it.

rainbow

10:56

Yeah, like they're like eating breakfast together and Noya just like brings it up out of nowhere. Yeah, I can see.

11:02

See that I just want to say some of my favorite things from this, this whole little sequence here are a few of our favorite things yeah, we have a moment of Hinata telling Bokuto that they won't lose to him in a real game. We also get yuki eating four rice balls at once. She like grabs them off the plate. We don't see it because it's not humanly possible. But then we the next thing we see she just has like a mouthful of onigiri.

em

11:25

So real.

rainbow

11:26

And then we have Bokuro Dai harassing their juniors yes, I love the captains telling Tsukishima and Kenma they need to eat and Kuroo specifically says they need to eat more vegetables.

em

11:36

Yes, and Kenma is like shaking in fear.

rainbow

11:40

He's like no, no, you know that Kuroo has absolutely like snuck vegetables into Kinma's food before. Like my friend who shall not be named, we went over to his house for a nice little 4th of July celebration and we were told we were getting mac and cheese. And then I was eating it and I was like hang on, this is cauliflower. And then I realized it wasn't even cheese. It was that weird like yeast substitute thing that they use for vegan cheese. Listen, there's nothing wrong with some perfectly good regular old mac and cheese.

12:10

You don't need to make it this weird healthy shit, but Kinma does strike me as the kind of person who has gotten scurvy before. Oh my god, she's not getting enough nutrients, so, like that's, that's fair,Kuroo, I think you're in the right there. We have to talk about lesbian Yachi. Poor, poor lesbian Yachi is surrounded by these men.

em

12:29

Yeah, she is absolutely terrified. I love this shot where she looks like a hunter in the jungle. I'm like you should shoot them, shoot them down. She's like please don't eat me.

rainbow

12:37

Yeah, her anxiety is so high and then she grabs like this, like blackened piece of meat, it's like so burnt and at one point.

12:42

I don't exactly remember when, but she's like I'm fine, I'm not a crazy person, that's. That's like so, Yachi. And he, like Asahi, comes up and is like whoa, that piece of meat, wait, it was really burnt, are you okay? And then, like all the guys are surrounding her, and then two of the other guys notice and are like, oh, if we saw that in the city, we'd call the police yeah, I don't love the implications here yeah, I'm not not a big fan that well, because then they immediately go from looking at that to be like, oh, I'd rather be surrounded by all those hot girl managers.

13:10

Yeah, but we do get to see, I love that Kiyoko has like other girls to talk to and they kind of like gossip about their teams and like she like totally reads Asahi, Asahi. She's like, oh, he's a big softie. And then one of the Fukuro Donnie managers I don't think it's Yuki, I think it's the other one whose name I can't remember, but she's just like, well, better a softie than a simpleton like Bokuto.

em

13:33

Yeah.

rainbow

13:34

And then I think that transitions to Bokuto and Hinata. Talking about how Bokuto is number five in the nation, and then Kuroo, who never misses a chance to bring Bokuto down, is just like oh yeah, but you have one of the guys who's in the top three in your prefecture and Love asks okay, well, if there's three, who are the other two?

em

13:53

and Kuroo mentions someone from.

rainbow

13:55

Kyushu, yeah, and then we see, some other guy some guy we probably won't ever meet whose hair different.

em

14:04

Yeah, so we kind of get to see them and Lev and Hinata are similar in this way where they're both like okay, so that's who we have to beat to win, and Kuroo's like that's a lot of confidence from the two top suckiest ones. And what I love is Hinata is like well, kama told me that my serves and receives are better than Lev's, like right in front of Lev love, yes, kitten loves me more. Oh my god. So the sun is going down and Takdea is thanking nakamata again for inviting them out and in the background, you know, we're kind of seeing the teams talking and stuff and Kenma and love are telling Hinata the story about them saving a cat in the tree, which is an ova. We will eventually be watching oh my gosh, that's right.

rainbow

14:40

yeah, and nakamata is just passing on some words of wisdom to Takeda. I like how, like you know, in this training camp we got to see the players interacting with Senpai, but in a way Nakamata is kind of a Senpai to Takeda. I don't think that's like an official hierarchy position for him or whatever, but like that's very much the way Nakamata, I think, treats Takeda as a kohai.

em

15:02

Yeah, for sure. They're leaving, they're saying their goodbyes. Hinata is excited about the thought of he's like. I hate to think that I suck still, but the thought of so many people above me excites me.

rainbow

15:15

Yeah, and the W says it drives me to get better. I said this is a thesis statement on Hinata's character.

em

15:20

It's like one of my favorite things about Hinata's character And's how I feel when I like this is why I love being friends with strong writers, like I definitely get that. Like being around strong people can be really exciting and it's just a way better way to look at challenges. Like usually you'd be like, oh no, we have to fight these guys, but he's like we get to fight these guys yeah, absolutely yeah.

rainbow

15:40

Being around people who are better and stronger than you, it's like, it's almost like a goalpost, and it's like it makes you want to step your pussy up.

15:48

And yeah, and that's what Hinata does for other players as well. I only have one final thing before the commercial break, which is Kuroo and Daichi are kind of saying goodbye to each other kind of for their teams. It's Nekoma and Karasuno saying saying goodbye and it's just very like sweet, I really like it. I feel like they kind of went from like super antagonistic to like maybe a little bit more like friendly antagonistic, you know well, yeah, because now you know Kuroo's taking suki under his wing, like they've bonded this week I love it.

16:18

and yamamoto is crying and they don't show Tanaka, but I know Tanaka is also crying. For sure they, they're like brother, I'll miss you, yeah. And then we have the commercial break and we come back and it's time to talk about the tournament.

em

16:31

Yes, and you kind of have broken it down for us, which is great, because I still don't understand what's happening.

rainbow

16:36

I was really trying to pay attention. Doing this podcast has really made me pay attention to how the shit actually works, because before I was like, yeah, whatever, I don't care, they're gonna play some volleyball games. Get to the gay. So, based on what Takeda is saying, they have preliminary games this summer and it's the top eight schools from that little tournament will go on to play eight powerhouse schools that have already qualified and then all of those 16 schools will compete in October to see who will be the regional representative for Miyagi at the spring nationals. And I think you kind of see you see it at some point. I think it shows it on the little thing that Takeda is is looking at.

17:17

But I couldn't really tell with the kanji. But Suga confirms that Karasuno is already seated because they did so well in the inter high tournament in season one they got so far. I think they got. Was it the quarterfinals or the semifinals? Yeah, it's the quarterfinals because they play Seijo and then they lose and then Seijo goes on to play another match, which is the semifinal match, and then they go on to play the final match against Shiratorizawa and lose. But because Karasuno made it so far, they're already seated and they don't have to play in the first round, they go right to the second round.

17:48

Yeah, and I thought that was pretty cool. They're good, yeah. So that's the breakdown, and I think I'm pretty proud of myself. I think I got that. I think I got that right. And poor little Yachi is so nervous for her first tournament. Her like stomach is all in knots and Kiyoko has to talk to her and she says this is our last tournament.

em

18:05

And then Yachi starts to cry oh, that's right.

rainbow

18:09

So we're back at practice. Noya is being an excellent senpai Once again. They're all doing serves, except for Noya, of course, and Yamaguchi is doing his jump float serve and he is like don't send it to the Libro, don't send it to the libro, don't send it to the libro. And it goes right to Noya and yamaguchi is all sad, but Noya is like no, don't worry, that was actually pretty hard for me to reach for.

18:31

Yeah and it's just and I think that's just a testament to how good of a libro Noya is that it's like he makes it look easy, but he knows that yamaguchi needs encouragement it is very sweet number one, haikyyuu Senpai NishiNoya Yu. Thank you very much. Here we get kind of a glimpse in a magazine of someone from Kakugawa Academy.

em

18:53

I wonder who that could be An amazing first year from another school. Looks tall, Well.

rainbow

18:58

I guess we'll have to find out.

em

18:59

And then we cut to the Tsukishima brothers reuniting. The older brother is home and it's clear and it's sad to see how distanced their relationship is. Now. You can really tell that what happened in high school affected them, especially when they were so close beforehand, because his older brother kind of makes a comment about how, even when he is home, unless they're eating Tsukki's, kind of just hiding away in his room, which is typical teenager behavior. But also, you know, he doesn't trust his brother anymore. Yeah, and I love it. Which brother is worse Tsukishima's older brother or Itachi from Naruto? Vote now.

rainbow

19:36

You know that's going to be a close call. It's going to be a really close call. I love that we get to see from Akitaru's perspective. Akitaru's perspective. Akitaru is Tsukishima's older brother, and this is something that I think Haikyuu does really well is we almost always get to see the story from multiple angles, because he's talking about you know. He talks about how he never wanted to stop playing volleyball, even though he was so frustrated in high school, and he still plays occasionally.

em

20:02

Yeah, because Tsukishima's kind of asking him about the team he's on now and he's and his brother kind of calls him out. He's like you're wondering why I still play, even after what happened in high school. And he tells Tsukki like even and he was like high school was really rough and you saw how pathetic I was, but before that even happened I knew like the thrill of the sport, basically like he knew what it felt like to do well, and Tsukishima remembers Bokudo's words about having his volleyball moment. So that was enough for his brother to stick with it, even after the humiliation of high school.

rainbow

20:30

And I think that and we see Tsukki kind of have a small little smile I think he believes in the ball, yes, and I just again I wonder what Tsukishima's whole outlook would have been like if he and Akitaru had just talked about what happened, rather than shutting each other out, like if Akiteru had been honest with Tsukishima and it didn't feel like he needed to fit into that hero role so much and had been like, hey, you know what it's really frustrating and like you know, I, I'm, I'm not, I'm not a starter, and it's really upsetting and like I, you know, and they could have practiced more together.

21:03

And then, you know, or even if he had lied, and then Tsukishima found out and Akiteru had just like, and you know, gone to him after he was done, crying in his room and be like, hey, bro, let's talk but that's, you know, it's. It's hard to do that when you're a teenager and boys especially are not raised to talk about their emotions that way. I don't think so in japan, at least that's how it is in the United States.

em

21:24

And.

rainbow

21:25

I think it's probably similar in most patriarchal societies.

em

21:29

And then we have Kagehina training with Grandpa Ukai together. I love them. They hit the quick and they blow away, grandpa Ukai, and they look very proud of themselves.

rainbow

21:40

Yes, and there's a cute moment where because there's two ladies from the community team that are there and they call Hina to show, and it's a cute moment where because there's two ladies from the community team that are there and they call Hina to show, and it's very adorable.

em

21:47

Show jam.

rainbow

21:47

And then we just kind of get a glimpse of some of the other Miyagi teams.

em

21:51

Yeah, we're kind of getting like who we're going to be facing up. We see Aone and Futakuchi is sassing his third years. Who has like?

rainbow

21:59

his sleeves rolled up like a punk, and it's very funny. And sleeves rolled up like a punk, and it's very funny And then at Seijoh, we have Kunimi and Kindaichi talking about some crazy story that Oikawa told, and I'm gonna touch on that in the spoiler zone, okay, yeah. And then we get a glimpse of some teams that we've never seen before. We see two other teams And then at Shiratorizawa, we see that Hinata has been living rent free in Ushijima's mind. Literally, he's, he's, he's hitting that, he's spiking that ball, and he is thinking about Hinata's words about how he's going to beat him. And then we end on the sun rising over a city which I think is Sendai, because I think that's where the tournament will be held, while Takeda is just talking about how like know what the spring nationals are going to begin and honey, this is the middle of season.

22:53

Two spring nationals, we're just with it for the rest, yeah, yeah, get in. It's game time now. Like everything they're doing is now in service to the spring nationals. It's like the big, it's the big war at the end of the battle. Anime.

em

23:05

So in Manga vs Anime this covers chapters mid-95 to the end of 97. Not a ton of changes, I noticed, although, when Kagehina having that little back and forth and this might just be a translation thing, but I just liked how they translated it because he just says we'll be fine, it's you we're talking about, you can do it, that's love, like just say I love you, pootie pie. Well, you can't comment on how some teams will be weaker than they were in the inner high because they lost the third years, while some teams and we see date tech will be stronger, getting rid of their third years and letting the second years really like stuff up to the plate. And then in the manga they don't show like the smaller teams we're gonna see at the end. Instead they show daichi's ex-boyfriend's team and the girls team interesting.

rainbow

23:50

I wonder if that's like carries forward from like that promise that daichi kind of made to his little ex-boyfriend about you know, like we're gonna keep winning for all of the other losers. I wonder if that's the reason for that. Yeah, because those teams didn't make it, but Karasuno, as the underdogs are kind of fighting for all of them.

em

24:09

And what I was hoping for was an explanation or some more info about how KageHina came to train with KurambaUkai together, but there was no such thing. I think the anime actually added that bit in.

24:20

Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I wonder if, maybe, maybe they just like weren. They just wanted to keep practicing like at the school gym. But Ukai was like no, we have to lock up, like Takeda has to go home. I know somewhere you can go. My grandpa is still going to be awake.

em

24:32

That's pretty much the explanation they did give, but I just want more.

rainbow

24:36

More.

em

24:36

Kagehina all the time. Yeah, but all right. So that's manga, versus is anime. And now on to our character spotlight. Who are we talking about today?

rainbow

24:44

it was so easy to pick. We're gonna talk about Tsukishima Akiteru, older brother. Yeah, so we're gonna, we're gonna get into it because this is, you know, this is where we really get to see him. You know, pass, you know, I feel like the Akiteru we saw was the Akiteru of Tsukishima's memory or I guess I should say k's memory but now we're really getting getting to see Akiteru as he is in this day and age.

25:12

And so, from the wiki, a little note about his personality he is kind, cheerful and friendly. However, he seems to try and avoid worrying those he cares about with his own burdens or problems, brushing it off with casual, light, hardened heartedness, only expressing his frustration or sadness when his back is turned. He cares about with his own burdens or problems, brushing it off with casual lightheartedness, only expressing his frustration or sadness when his back is turned. Despite this, he is determined and doesn't give up easily. Having been described as a dauntless spirit, he doesn't like letting people down, especially himself and his brother. Moving on to his name meaning we've already talked about the family name Tsukishima, which means moon island His given name, name Akiteru, means clear slash, bright light. Thinking about it, k's name means firefly, and I like that they both have names related to light, especially because their family name is related to the moon, which reflects the light from the sun he is the light that attracted k until he got burned oh, I thought I was being poetic, but look at you coming out there.

26:10

Takeda wishes he was us. Absolutely, are you kidding me? I couldn't come up with that colors metaphor. okay, and he does have a character sheet and where it usually says, like, what position they are, it just says Tsukishima Kei's older brother. He's a Karasuno High School graduate and again, have we talked about the fact that Tsukishima went to the same school as his brother? Not really. I think it's interesting that, like, despite the, like, you know, the I guess trauma isn't the right word, but just the, the experience, the experience of what happened. You know, I don't, maybe. I think that's all part of the fake.

em

26:46

I don't give a fuckerness.

rainbow

26:47

It's like he still, though, is drawn to that yeah, I was just gonna say like maybe karasuno is like a school, that's like kind of close to them, and so for him going out of his way and going to a different school would mean that it, you know, that would show that it means a lot. What happened? And he's like no, I have to show it doesn't bother me. He's 22. His height is 185.2 centimeters, which comes out to about 6'1", and I used the actual height converter so I thought that should be correct. His birthday is March 8th, which means he is a Pisces. All right, how?

em

27:21

do we feel I've known a Pisces to lie a time or two?

rainbow

27:24

yeah, I say that's a water sign right yeah, very emotional, they're the fish that's right. Yeah, I think that makes sense. his favorite food is wasabi leaves in soy sauce. Em doesn't like the sound of that and his current concern is he's not used to drinking sake oh, he's probably feeling the pressures of like going out to drink with his coworkers after work.

em

27:47

I know about the drinking culture, I read about it.

rainbow

27:50

Yeah, gosh, and I feel the same way. I'm 28 and I'm still not used to drinking alcohol and I never will be Okay. Moving on to his five point ability parameters His speed and his jumping are twos, his technique and strategy, or intelligence, are both threes, and then his power and stamina are fours not good enough for karasuno with that jumping and that speed, I think not can't beat the little giant like that.

28:18

But no, but he, he seems to be pretty happy playing on his little neighborhood team so now it's time for the world's favorite game.

em

28:24

It's who in haikyuu? This week's scenario is is brought to us by Taylor and it's what do they like to read? Can they read? This week, we'll be talking about Hinata, Kageyama Bokuro, Akaashi Kuroo Kenma Daichi Suga Asahi Noya, Tanaka, Kiyoko Yachi Takeda and Ukai. So well, we know Hinata he's reading One Piece and Naruto, he is manga station.

rainbow

28:48

I like, yeah, I like to think that he is reading.

em

28:50

Shonen.

rainbow

28:50

Jump Sorry, he's reading Shonen Jump weekly. He's getting the magazine every time. Yeah, Kageyama is exclusively reading articles in Volleyball Monthly. Yeah, and even then he's really skimming them to just find the information he's looking for.

em

29:10

Yeah, he's looking at the pictures. Pokuro again, naruto Bleach yeah, I could see him reading some manga but I don't think he's as like.

rainbow

29:20

I don't think he's as like, vigilant about it as Hinata is. I think he, like, picks things up. I do like to imagine Bokuto reading like hammy down, like shoujo manga from his sister yeah, I will say that Akaashi is reading full-length novels I think Akaashi is very well read and then I think his guilty pleasure is bl.

29:41

Yeah, he's totally miyanoing it up. Oh my god, sasuke and miyano Bokuto BokuAka au, let's go. Oh my god yeah, no, but I think Akaashi is reading a lot of things. he is, yeah, like you said. Very well, read Kuroo.

em

29:58

I feel like he would be, like he'd be into like Stephen King and like thrillers and mysteries and stuff like that.

rainbow

30:05

I do agree with that. I also think he's reading a lot of non-fiction like. I think he's reading like science fiction books, not even like pop science. I think he's reading like he's reading an entire book that's about the history of the cell, that kind of thing Kinma is reading visual novels and video game how-to guides yeah yeah, absolutely.

em

30:32

He's doing some Doki Doki Literature Club and he considers that reading Daichi is reading sports magazines.

rainbow

30:37

I think he's reading thrillers as well occasionally.

em

30:40

Yeah, an occasional little thriller. Yeah, I feel like he'll be like my dad reading those, like thriller authors or whatever Suga is reading. I think he would like the YA. I think he'd like a beach read once in a while, whatever the straight women are reading that they think is saucy.

rainbow

30:59

Oh he's. He's reading a bodice buster for sure. Yeah, I was thinking he's reading like romance and erotica as well. Asahi, Asahi is reading just the sweetest little like chaste romance stories you've ever read yeah, I agree, maybe some older like, maybe some pride and prejudice yeah some jane austen, some, yeah someAkiteru some Charlotte Bronte, that kind of thing.

em

31:21

Noya's not reading. He's reading Captain Underpants.

rainbow

31:25

He is. He is reading Captain Underpants, you're right.

em

31:31

Tonic are kind of the same thing A lot of mangas. You know, I think he'd get really into Attack on Titan. I think he would dress up as Connie for Halloween. You won't get that, but they're both bald.

rainbow

31:41

Okay, that makes sense.

em

31:42

Kiyoko, I think she's another well-read one. I think she reads a lot for fun and, like well, I think, has a large library yeah, I definitely agree.

rainbow

31:51

I think she and Akaashi, and maybe even suga, would get together and talk I could see them having a little book club. Yeah, Yachi is reading stories about lesbians?

em

32:02

Yeah, absolutely. And she's reading the doujins I don't know how to say it, the doujins.

rainbow

32:09

Yeah, she's reading those. Yes, absolutely. Takeda again well-read. He is the facilitator of the Karasuno book club. Takeda is facilitating the book club. He reads a lot of stuff. Ukai, I think we see him reading manga.

em

32:23

Yes, he's reading shonen jump, but that's definitely the extent of it for him yeah, and then I did want to throw in.

rainbow

32:27

I think yuki is reading cookbooks. I think she's one of the only people who, when you find a recipe online, she's actually reading through the article and not clicking jump to recipe. I love that. like I was reading science fiction wise me is reading about godzilla. Yeah, at all times, yeah I love how that's just like his whole personality, and I'm not even mad about it okay.

em

32:48

So thank you, taylor, for that scenario. That was a fun oneAkiteru. Before we lose some of you to the spoiler zone, here are our socials. Please call me. And now it's time to go into a spooky zone, a weird zone, dare I say it the spoiler zone.

rainbow

33:17

Hit us All right, I have a few things. So you know, the beginning of this episode is a lot about Bokuto's like sad mode and the way the team and really it's about the way the team kind of supplements for him and kind of like takes over for him so he doesn't have to deal with that. And after their very last match in high school, which is where we meet the other top three ace guy I can't remember his name. He does have really cool hair. His hair is like shaved and he's got like a cool design shaved into it and he it's his team that Fukurodani is playing in that little. It's like a whole volume that's just about Fukurodani, because BokuAka are the protagonist of the world and I don't think that's gonna make it into any of the movies, but I do hope we get an ova someday of that but in that, that, first of all, it's where we find out that confirmed, Akaashi is a weird little guy.

34:08

But after they're done, Akaashi has this like almost like a breakdown, where he's like talking to Bokuto and he's like you're gonna go pro, but you can't do what you did with us, like you have to find a routine, you have to come up with something so that to center yourself, so that you don't get so emotional. And then we find out that Bokuto does. It's like a it's very small moment, but when they're on the bus MSBY, when they're on the bus showing up to that game between Kagehina, we see that Bokuto is listening to music and like resting. He's almost meditating, and I think that's a signal that that's what he does to like center himself so that he doesn't have those moments. And I thought that was very interesting. Akashi is his wife, absolutely.

34:48

When they show those top three aces, I always think to myself who the fuck is that guy in the purple jacket? They're calling Sakusa, yeah. Who the fuck is that in the purple jacket? They're calling Sakusa. Yeah, who the fuck is that? Like, his hair is completely different, like. I'm glad that they did a character redesign. It's very clear that they like just did like typical anime protagonist. Also, though, like, the colors change it's not purple anymore, it's like bright green So it's just very clear that wasn't. That piece, at least wasn't as far thought ahead as some of the other stuff.

35:16

Speaking of things that are seeded early on, I think the story that Kunimi and Kandaichi are talking about, when about like Oikawa, where they're like oh, that story Oikawa told was crazy. I think that is Oikawa telling the story of talking to that setter from Argentina that he idolizes. Oh, I think when in the time skip in Brazil, when Hinata runs into Oikawa, I think we get a small flashback to that moment where they're like oh, you know, Oikawa has always been crazy. So I think that's them telling him or that's him telling the team. I met with this setter from Argentina and I've decided when I graduate I am going to move to Argentina. Oh, wow, ok, I'm pretty sure I mean everybody. Write in, let me know if you think I'm wrong, but I just don't like. What else would? What else would that crazy story?

em

36:01

be. I will see in the sub. I don't think they reference anything about a crazy story I thought they were. I thought they were referencing like that Oikawa was working on some crazy move or something maybe, but then what would that crazy move be? I have no idea, so I'm just gonna I'm assuming you're right and that I missed something.

rainbow

36:16

Yeah, I think they are saying that, like Oikawa has always been crazy, but I really think it's about him moving to Argentina Because, again, I think in the manga in Brazil, I think we get a flashback to that.

em

36:25

Yeah, no, that's crazy. Yeah, Furudate, you're always thinking.

rainbow

36:29

Yeah, Furudate always knew that Oikawa would leave for the tournament.

em

36:33

It's coming up. Get ready for a lot of game talk, but it's going to be fun, lots of fun moments, new characters to talk about. And until next time, fly high.
