hello everyone and welcome to fly a queer Haikyuu podcast. I'm rainbow, they she and I'm m she her. And today we will be talking about season 2, episode 12. Let the games begin. But first I want to talk about a little something else. It's still technically spooky season. Spooky season for me does not end with Halloween. I think it continues. It ends with Thanksgiving, yeah, that's, you're absolutely right. It starts kind of in September, yeah, and then it goes all the way through October and it ends when we get to Thanksgiving. And then we're getting into true well, maybe not true winter, where we are but yeah we're we're getting, we're moving into a different kind of season.

00:48

With that being said, I wanted to talk a little bit about witchcraft. I think I've mentioned before that I am a practicing witch. I just recently within the last year and a half got back into witchcraft. When I was younger, I very much dabbled a lot and I called myself a witch, but I think I was really disappointed that the magic I was doing wasn't like the magic I saw in, like Harry Potter and Charmed, and so I was like this isn't real magic, blah, blah, blah. But as an adult, especially as an atheist who does not believe in any kind of God, as somebody who has never been particularly religious but has a lot of like spirituality within me, I was finding myself a little bit lost in that regard, and witchcraft has really helped focus that kind of energy and and has really helped me in a lot of ways connect to myself, connect to nature, connect to my loved ones, connect to my community. And for me, witchcraft is very personal. But there are so many witches out in the world and so many different kinds of witches, so I wanted to talk a little bit about the different kind of witches out there, just briefly just touch on some of them.

01:52

I would probably be considered an eclectic witch, because the eclectic path is unique to each witch and the practice is singularly their own. And that's very much what I'm doing. I'm kind of making it up as I go along. I'm doing, I'm kind of making it up as I go along. I'm finding what feels right to me. I'm also not sticking it to a schedule, I'm not. You know, I try to do things along with the phases of the moon and certain holidays that speak to me that you can generally find in like Wiccan calendars and other like kind of witchy holidays, and for me, the reason I do that is because in my life, with my ADHD, I have to be so fucking organized all the time, especially at work, and so for my witchcraft I didn't want it to be like that. I wanted to be as free as I possibly could be and I also didn't want to fall into kind of like a new agey trap of doing cultural appropriation. You know, saging is a big thing in a lot of like witchcraft spaces, but white sage in particular is very important to a lot of North American indigenous cultures and practices. They use it a lot in their rituals and so when white witches are buying it online and buying it from stores, you know, there's not enough of it to go around and so we're kind of taking this away from these indigenous people who have already lost so much. So that's kind of a PSA. I wanted to mention that. And then I just want to kind of mention some of the other kind of witches out there.

03:16

So there's eclectic witches, ancestral witches, who really communicate with their ancestors. Angel witches, who invoke angels and work with them in their practice. Ceremonial witches, cosmic or star witches it's a lot about like the cosmic and celestial energies. Crystal witches they use crystals. Dream witches they integrate a lot of dream work into their practice. They can also use that for divination, kind of trying to divine the future, divine what's hidden.

03:43

Elemental witches. They, you know, maybe they're a sea witch, an earth witch, an air future divine what's hidden? Elemental witches, say, you know, maybe they're a sea witch, an earth witch, an air witch or a fire witch. There's energy witches who work a lot with energy manipulation. Green witches, connected to the earth. Kitchen witches, or sometimes called cottage witches. Very home-centric, they're using a lot of stuff from their kitchens, maybe infusing their magic into things that they make, particularly food that they make.

04:09

Hereditary. Witches are born into witchcraft but the thing about it is like being born into the craft doesn't make a person a witch, it's the practice of witchcraft. So that's why I hate in movies when it's like, oh, she's a true witch because she was born into the practice and that's like no bitch. If you practice witchcraft you're a witch and that's the only thing that you need. Lunar witches you know they work with the moon. They might also worship like kind of lunar deities, nature witches very connected to green witches, but you know they work with nature spirits A lot of focus on that.

04:45

A secular witch which I might be considered a secular witch because I don't work with any deities there's also traditional kinds of witchcraft like British, celtic, african, italian, european and Norse. There's also Wiccans and so Wicca is a religion and a lot of Wiccans do practice witchcraft, but not all witches are Wiccan. Like I don't consider myself Wiccan they have their own system of gods and goddesses, often pulled from lots of different pantheons, and they have it's a pagan religion. So, yeah, that's just a very brief overview. I wanted to talk about that just a little bit. Do you have anything you'd like to add?

em

05:19

Guess what rainbow is going to be for Halloween this year.

rainbow

05:22

You'll never guess. Yeah, I'm going to be a witch. Maybe I'll post my costume. So now that that is out of the way, let's move on to housekeeping. Shout out to the Haikyuu Summit, a fellow Haikyuu podcast out there. They're pretty great. We follow each other on Instagram. They're super cool. They've been doing it for a while. I think they're up to season four. Their episodes are great. It's not queer focused, it's really just focused on the volleyball and on the show. I think they do a great job and they're wonderful. So if you just can't get enough of Haikyuu podcast, go and find them. And they mentioned another podcast I thought some of you might be interested in as well, called Anime Iceberg. They are going through the anime Dr Stone, which I've never watched, but I know a lot of people really love, and I think they do little like mini or bonus episodes on other animes. So go and check them out as well. Anime Iceberg and Haikyuu Summit. And that's it for housekeeping. Do you have anything else to add? The house is clean.

em

06:15

It's time for Rainbows. Recap Wow, all right, ready for me to count you down? See All right Three two one.

rainbow

06:26

The tournament begins with a game we completely forgot about. Hinata faces off with a scary looking captain in the bathroom, but it's the captain who leaves that interaction, shaken by Hinata's signature predator stare On the court. Tawada learns an important lesson about fighting to the very end. Next up is the start of another game we forgot about, as Karasuno faces off against a 200 meter giant.

em

06:47

It is so funny because, like before we watched the episode, we were like oh, what game do we start with, this one or that one? And the way that it's neither of those and there's two additional teams that we forgot about, that starts us off here I forget.

rainbow

07:00

every time I go to watch season two, I forget just how many fucking games they play before they get to the big one, the big game that I think about. And then there's two others that I remember, and I think it's because I think we have like one episode with this team, one episode with the next team, one episode with another team, and then it kind of gets a little bit more spaced out.

em

07:18

Yeah, we got to knock out all the wusses first.

rainbow

07:21

Absolutely. We're at the stadium, we get to see the banners all for all the teams up, and I noticed Karasuno's banner and it made me very excited.

em

07:30

I love having these like randos from other teams observing Karasuno and they're like, oh, look, how tough they are. There's Kageyama and Nishinoya and their lefts look really scary and they're like, oh, but no one's scarier than their number 10.

rainbow

07:43

Because they're talking about like, oh, that team Karasuno at the inner high, like they really made Se a work for their win, like they went to full sets with them. They called out that Daichi made a lot of receives from Oikawa serves. I thought that was cool. I was like hell, yeah, Daichi getting his flowers. Yeah, I feel like people don't like others don't talk about him enough, but he's such a strong receiver and I'm glad he's getting noticed for that. And they're talking about hinata and how scary he is. And then he turns around with just like death on his face. Yes, because we have Yamaguchi. Asahi and Hinata are three nervous tummies and they do mention that Hinata threw up on the bus again, but this time he missed Tanaka's lap.

em

08:19

I think that he like waited until he got there this time to throw up, and then Kageyama starts yelling at him for being nauseous. I don't know.

rainbow

08:29

I love him. He's just get your head in the game, yeah. And then is this when we go into Hinata's little bathroom song.

em

08:36

My personal favorite bathroom song.

rainbow

08:38

I wrote down the lyrics for the dub one because I love it. It's so ridiculous. It's bathroom, bathroom. I gots to pee. I'm gonna sprinkle all my tinkle in the and then he gets cut off.

em

08:51

It's so ridiculous because then we run into somebody's father no, it's apparently a teenage boy. So Hinata bumps into this kid and he's like all scary looking and 45 years old. And then he's like, oh, you must be from junior high, sorry. Which is rich coming from this college senior.

rainbow

09:09

Are you a college professor? Are you kidding me?

em

09:11

That guy does look so old, but it turns out this is our captain of our first team. That's up and that's Okiminami.

rainbow

09:18

Oghi minami yes, and he is a jerk.

em

09:23

It's a team full of anime bullies. Yes, they all look like they're the rough characters.

rainbow

09:28

They all look like. They all look like they're like the like the rough characters. You know like they all look like.

em

09:33

They're like future yakuza members, because it's not a confrontation without hinata declaring that they're going to win nationals. The bully kid is, like don't say that. Like it's so easy, why don't we just go ahead and go out there and make some memories? Huh, and I thought that that was interesting, because that's kind of what kageyama was afraid that Daichi's attitude was going to be in the beginning like are you just trying to make some fun memories?

rainbow

09:56

well, this is the team that's just trying to make some memories yeah, well, in the dub at least, he mentions like you know, you can try all you want, but you're just going to get crushed by shiratorizawa yeah, because that's usually what happens to everybody. And then, you know, hinata goes to the bathroom and then he comes back to his team and they're, and everyone on karasuno is looking at ogi minami and somebody says they must do their recruiting at the local jail. I mean, yeah, they look like that. Well, two of the guys start like making fun of tanaka. I think maybe they recognize that he is like the most like them and they talk about him being like his bald head, they ask if he has lice. It's like this is such weird bullying and Tanaka is being so funny about it. He's like I am so calm, I am not going to freak out about this. And then they're like doing spike practice and he like spikes the ball immediately and it's like ha, ha, take that. And I just love how Tanaka channels his aggression into volleyball.

em

10:51

I wish.

rainbow

10:51

Instead of the little like him crushing on Kiyoko all the time, I kind of wish we got to see him like maybe he was a little bit more aggressive as a kid and then they put him into volleyball and that helped him focus.

em

11:02

Oh, I would buy that as the backstory. Yachi is up in the stands because only one manager is allowed on the bench at a time, for whatever reason, and then we have Grandpa Ukai and his brood come along with his elementary school kids, and they join us to watch.

rainbow

11:17

Yeah, I love that. This is Yachi's first official match. This is the first time we get to see her in her little manager shirt. Takada is giving the team a little pep talk and I kind of paraphrased here where where he's like you sure lost a lot against the Kanto teams, but you're stronger for it.

em

11:35

Now go out there and win and we start off strong with a service ace by Asahi Kuroosano is notably more sure of their movements now, after that training camp. They are used to high level plays now there, there's more power behind their strikes, there's more surety behind their moves and ogi mini mani, you're not ready.

rainbow

11:54

Yeah, so we have Asahi's service ace, I believe a no touch service ace. I don't think anyone even got a hand on it. I was watching this and I was thinking about how it's always the boyfriends cheering on the serve, like you always hear Hinata saying go killer serve when Kageyama is up to serve, and I feel like it's often Noya who's pumping up Asahi for his serve. Like he says that when Asahi is going up to do the serve.

12:17

I just thought it was really cute that it was Noya pumping him up well, everyone has a little boyfriend um yeah, and I just love getting to watch Karasuno decimate another team yeah, it's almost not really fair to these guys.

em

12:31

They're getting their butts whooped.

rainbow

12:33

Yes and I love. Before we even know this guy's name, the Oki captain gets a backstory.

em

12:40

Yeah, he thinks to himself to think we ended up against a team this strong so early on again. And then we flashback to last year when they had to go up against Shiritorizawa pretty early on.

rainbow

12:49

Yes, we find out his name is Tawada. He didn't think it was worth it to fight for the win. He was like there's no point, we're just going to lose anyway. They're too strong. But the captain taught him the importance of going for it even when it seems useless.

em

13:03

Yes, his captain Aki-kun, who I keep calling the plucky. Third year he's got like he's giving, like you know how Bokudo looks like an owl, this kid looks like a little chicken. He's got like the little, like chicken tail on his head for some reason and like. It's such a funny contrast because this is a team that's made up of like these strong, scary looking second years, but they were led by this very like, wide eyed, sweet third year. That's like come on, guys, just keep trying. And so we have this flashback and Tawada, our 45 year old, is watching the ball go by and he's like I probably won't get it, whatever there's always next year. And then Mr Plucky runs right past him and he tries to go for it, but he doesn't get it.

rainbow

13:44

But the important thing is he never stopped trying. Yes, we leave the flashback and we go back to the game and we get to see Hinata do one of his freak quicks and it looks so cool. I just love whenever they show him. He comes down from a block and he runs to the other side and he jumps up and he spikes the ball and it lands on the other side of the court and it's a point for Karasuno.

em

14:01

That's the set to point to, and I do love they always do that extra good animation when they have Hinata running like that, and I had to watch it twice just because.

rainbow

14:09

He does that spike and then Tawada thinks back on the interaction they had and he's thinking he's like, wow, I dismissed that guy, but he really, he probably really could go to nationals.

em

14:18

He was like he wasn't just talking tough.

rainbow

14:20

No, and we see this all the time with Hinata. He tells someone he's gonna win. They don't believe him and then they see him play and they change their mind. I think that's even kind of what happened all the way back in the first episode with Kageyama, where he was like you know, they have this confrontation in front of the bathroom. Kageyama was like you're not, you know you're not gonna stand on the court the longest and Hinata's like bet I will. And then he he sees him try and he's like damn, okay, yeah, there's one thing about Hinata's he says it with his whole chest.

em

14:46

Yes, and then what's his? Name akikun aki something, but they they shortened it to akikun.

rainbow

14:53

Oh okay, akikun akikun shows up to cheer on his juniors he's there to kick their butts with the truth.

em

14:59

He's yelling at them from the second floor. This is a tough guy team and I guess they kind of put on a show of not caring and their little cluck cluck tells them that being earnest and trying hard isn't lame.

rainbow

15:11

He asks them. He says why is it you guys can pick fights but chicken out when it comes to volleyball? And they get all mad. And he's like you can't hurt me. I'm up on the second floor Because the coach is kind of there. And the coach is kind of like a little like he's almost a little useless. He's like you know what, guys, it's OK as long as you're doing your best. And I think the issue is that they're not giving it their all. They're not doing their best because they don't think it's worth the effort. What the coach wasn't able to get across, but Aki-kun could, was that it is important that you do your best, even if you don't win, like you have to try hard, because if you lose by not trying hard, that's worse than losing and trying so then Tawada tries his hand at some earnest shouting and yells into the air that they're gonna beat Karasuno and go to the nationals.

em

15:54

And it's hard to watch.

rainbow

15:55

Yeah.

em

15:56

But it's beautiful.

rainbow

15:57

Yes, and we, we go to the commercial break. We go to the commercial break. Yes, we come back from the commercial break and Ukai is talking to some other guy who's watching the game, some rando, and in the dub this guy's voice was so funny to me he sounded like a character from a horror movie, specifically the stranger who delivers the warning, like he was giving, like you kids, stay away from that house now or you won't see tomorrow.

em

16:21

I feel like the dub has about three voices in total.

rainbow

16:25

I, I do think in, I think, english dubbing for anime. I think it's a pretty tight knit circle and I mean honestly, I think that's the way it is, with a lot of voice acting, and it's probably because they don't get paid nearly enough.

em

16:38

So, grandpa, Ukai is impressed with not only our rookies and our advisors, but the strong foundation of the second and third years, because the third years entered karasuno when they were at their lowest the ones who stuck it through. Well, they have the strength now and, of course, that is our Daichi, suga and asahi we get a little flash of them, I think from like first year.

rainbow

17:00

Yeah a little bit more baby faced. Asahi's hair is shorter and Ukai has a line in the dub that I really appreciated, which is they've developed a resilience that won't easily waver. That's right, and that's so fucking true of them, although I mean now I think Asahi won't waver.

em

17:16

He had to go through that low period For sure In the second set, and we already have a 10-point lead and we have Kageyama up to serve. I think we get a few more service aces from him and then they're able to pick it up up and Tawada watches the ball in the air and thinks he probably won't get it. There's always next year. We fade to black and that's why you never win. We come back in and he goes for it and he just about saves it. It's not bad. Their Libro has been killing it, but it's not enough against the baby crow. Noya picks it up and Hinata smashes it through.

rainbow

17:49

I do love this mini arc we get with Tawada and he learns through this game that fundamental truth that Hinata has always known the game isn't over until the ball touches the floor and he inspires his team to keep going for it with their all. And they do. They managed to get a few more volleys in before they're finally, you know, taken out. But you can tell I called him chicken captain. Chicken captain is so proud of them. He like goes to you know they're walking away, they're defeated, and he's like hey, you guys did a good job. And he says those who lose their regret are going to stay weak. And he's reminding them something I feel like we've heard before, which is remember this loss, remember this feeling and let it fuel you for next time yeah, captain cluck was really calling me out here because I feel like as a local underachiever.

em

18:36

Yeah, the ones who can just kind of let it go and uh, move on, you're not gonna get any better, but those who can hang on and continue to strive, that is who the volleyball speaks to yes, well, and then you know, kip chicken captain goes to walk away and you can tell I think he's getting a little emotional and he's like all right, I'm gonna go.

rainbow

18:53

And he's like I'll come and watch you guys next year too. And then Towada like calls out to him and chicken captain turns and he bows, and then the whole team bows and I'm just so proud of them in that moment, like I think that's so great. They say thank you, captain cluck. Yes, and then this is the point in the episode where we realized that we, uh, had forgotten about the second team that they play, the green team next up the lime green team with the super tall guy, the two meter man yeah, and karasuno, it's tanaka.

19:23

And who else? Is it hinata or somebody else? What? Who are like watch it with the banana part? Oh, or is it asahi? Anyway it's tanaka. And somebody are like watching with the banana part oh, or is it Asahi, anyway it's Tanaka. And somebody are like watching the team practice and Tanaka's eating a banana. And Kiyoko in the dub at least, she says like that banana suits you. And I was like is it because he's dumb like a monkey?

em

19:42

That is exactly what it is, but they don't like make that very clear. That must be a cultural thing that we're not. It's just like tanaka looks good with a banana, which could mean anything. Honestly, it could what I called the most unserious part of the episode ever. They compare the height difference between hinata and this two meter guy using off-brand hello kitty and pikachu and then a different kind of shark to illustrate the. It's like a 40 centimeter height difference or something and the dub they explain to the.

rainbow

20:10

The tall guy is about six, seven and hinata is five, three, almost five, four. he likes to remind us, but but poor hinata is like. So if I add the shark onto the top, if I stand on top of the shark, I'll be that tall yes, hagama's like what are you talking about?

em

20:27

and he's like are you really freaked out? And he's not even like goading hinata here. I think he's genuinely like oh, you're, it's kageyama's turned with the stupid confidence stick and he's like you're worried, bae, we've got this I and I think it's part of especially in the anime kageyama does not think that hinata's height will hold him back at all.

rainbow

20:48

He knows he's like that kid can jump, that kid can run, like his height is not a problem.

em

20:54

I don't know why he's so worried yeah, while we may be sitting here saying two meters, whatever, Grandpa Ukai acknowledges that with high school boys, they haven't finished growing yet and their plays aren't complete. Something like height really is a weapon all on its own. It is a formidable challenge for Karasuno.

rainbow

21:11

Yeah, and my last note here is that Hinata is always scared off the court, but once he's on the court he's able to focus. But will playing against this giant shake up that in-game confidence that he always has?

em

21:23

tune in next week to find out, but yeah, so that's our episode.

rainbow

21:28

Our weird purple and white team of old guys has been defeated easily yeah, I love them with their slicked back hair and that one guy whose eyes are just a little bit too close together their hair really ages them so much.

em

21:43

So in manga versus anime I would say it's pretty direct translation. But I just wanted to bring the attention and maybe we'll post these on like our twitter or something when the episode goes up. But at the beginning of episode 99 episode, at the beginning of chapter 99, there's this great illustration of Kiyoko and Yachi in volleyball uniforms, and I didn't even realize at first, but in the bottom corner it's Yachi dreaming about them in the volleyball uniforms and Yachi's got a little bandaid on her face. I'm obsessed.

rainbow

22:10

I love this and can we talk? So Kiyoko is number eight and Yachi is number 19. Why do you think that is?

em

22:17

I don't know if there's any significance to it at all I love it.

rainbow

22:21

and this, uh, the manga chapters for this are 99 to the beginning of 102, right?

em

22:25

yes, thank you and at the end of 99 we have just a little sketch of hinata doing his little bathroom song and it says the time that I must pee has come and kageyama, who's walking past him, looks so angry and is like what the heck is he saying? And this is just the definition of cute aggression, like the way that Kageyama gets so angry when Hinata is cute. What are you so mad about that? You want to kiss him.

rainbow

22:48

Yeah, it's like when our cat is being really adorable and I feel the urge to squeeze her face. Kageyama is feeling that all the time.

em

22:56

And kageyama's feeling that all the time and you can't change my mind, but that's really all I had for manga versus anime. that moves us on to our character spotlight. And who are we talking about this week?

rainbow

23:04

you know what we're gonna talk about Towada Yoshiki, who we see for the first time in this episode and I don't think ever see again. He looks exactly like the date tech coach. Oh my god, he does.

em

23:14

Yeah, he does look exactly like that hair and like the lines on his face. That's. That's the date type. Coach's brother.

rainbow

23:22

Older brother. Yeah, literally no, but they, yeah, they do. Look, I think it's just like they were like, oh, let's just copy this character design, it's fine. So Tawada Yoshiki, I have a little bit of a note about his personality. From the wiki it says, quote Tawada usually portrays himself as a tough individual, but in reality is quite the opposite.

23:43

He is quick to give up when in a seemingly difficult situation and will resign when faced with an overwhelmingly strong opponent. As such, he would not put in the extra effort to fight for the win. However, he has proven he to be capable of change, and that's what we see in this episode. I mean, who knows how much he sticks with that. You know, I think it's easy, like in the heat of the moment, to be like, yeah, I want to try and I want to do this. I almost wish we got like a little bit of a follow up to like see what happens, like in the next inner high, in the next preliminary tournament. You know, do they go a little bit farther? Do they try harder, even if they don't like make it past the first or second round? Are they fighting harder than they did in this one? I think that's an interesting question and you know, I think that's something that's kind of nice about Haikyuu is we're kind of given all of these little teams and we don't get to really see where they go because we're always following Karasuno, but there's always so many possibilities, okay, so, moving on to his name meaning, which usually for the name meaning, I pull them from the wiki. It's in the trivia section.

24:36

I didn't find anything for this guy's name, I think, just because he's such like an extra character and we see so little of him. But I did a little bit of research on my own and I I found out some ideas of what his name could mean. So his family name is Tawada, which is also the name of a city in the Amori prefecture which is in the Tohoku region, which we talked about a few episodes ago, is the region where Miyagi is situated, um so kind of in the tohoku region, which we talked about a few episodes ago, is the region where miyagi is situated, um so kind of in the northern area, and the name Towada contains a kanji that means peace and harmony. And then his given name is Yoshiki. I think it's pretty common name in japan, and there's lots of different kanji combinations that you can use for the name Yoshiki, and so I found his particular kanji and the translation for that indicated it means good tree, which I thought was interesting.

25:25

But I also found a breakdown of the name Yoshiki, where yo means honor or glory, and shiki means style or type. Thus, Yoshiki symbolizes a person of honorable and glorious nature, displaying a sense of refined elegance, which I kind of love. That, because that is the opposite of this guy. Yeah, so, and I'm not entirely sure which one is right. Again, I'm not an expert on the Japanese language, but I just thought both of those were pretty interesting. So, moving on to his character sheet, he's a second year, he's in class 2A and he's the volleyball captain at Ogi Minami High School. His position is wing spiker. His height is an even six feet, which comes out to about 82.88 centimeters. His birthday is August 24th, making him a

Leo Virgo.

rainbow

26:14

Virgo-ish. I think it's a Virgo. I think that's what the trivia said. Yeah, so he's a virgo. I think that's what the trivia said. Yeah, so he's a virgo. His favorite food is a croquette sandwich, which I think that means those potato croquettes nice his current worry kills me. Huh, his current worry kills me oh, his kid brother doesn't want, uh, doesn't seem to want to hang out with him as much as he used to, oh yeah right, what a little side.

em

26:39

These guys are softies, I tell. The fucking current worry really gives you some insight into these guys, that's so sad.

rainbow

26:45

Oh, his, his brother's getting older and doesn't want to spend time with him oh, okay.

26:51

Well, I wish we did get to see more of him now. moving on to his five point ability parameters, we've got. His technique and intelligence are both twos makes sense. His jumping and stamina are threes, as is his speed. His power is a four, so I think that makes sense. For a wing spiker they tend to have a lot of power. Yeah, do you have anything else you want to say about Towada and his? He's in in his picture on his character sheet. He is slicking back that hair.

em

27:20

Yeah, he looks a little bit younger here.

rainbow

27:23

Yeah, did you in the manga. Did he look a little bit younger than he does in the anime, or did he just look as old? I think he looks just as old oh yeah, it's just this one sketch where it's like, yeah, you could be a high schooler all right.

em

27:35

So this week's scenario of who in haikyuu is brought to us by Sasha and it's what could you see this coming? What kind of witch would they be? Today we're gonna be talking about Karasuno and maybe some other BFOS, if we think of them. So, starting off with Hinata, what kind of witch do we think Hinata would?

rainbow

27:51

be. I think he'd be an eclectic witch. I think he'd be doing whatever the fuck he wants.

em

27:55

Yeah, I just imagine like less about what, what kind of magic he does, but like just the fact that I think he would be kind of like on the surface, a very disorganized, messy seeming witch. Maybe people kind of poo-poo him because of that, but he's very powerful, yeah all right.

rainbow

28:10

And then, what do we think about kageyama? I see him as like, a little bit more like, maybe a little bit more ceremonial. I see him as a little bit more like rigid and his craft, yeah, maybe, maybe elemental. Oh, yeah, I could see him as an element. What kind? Which one though water because of the eyes? Yeah, yeah, I see that for him too. Yeah, okay, I think suga is a kitchen witch and a crystal witch. Okay, I think he's doing a lot of fun stuff. I was actually reading an oisuga fic.

28:40

I wish I could remember the name of it, but it was really fun and it was like Oikawa and Iwaizumi have like a possessed godzilla statue and so they get local witch suga to help and suga comes over with, like you know, because like salt is used a lot in um in witchcraft, but his salt is like in little like McDonald's packets and it's just very cute. But yeah, and I also see him as the kind to like use crystals and like slip crystals into like his friends bags to help them.

em

29:09

I could see Daichi being like an earthy kind of witch. Yeah, absolutely Asahi.

rainbow

29:14

Something with fabrics. I don't know I could see him. I honestly see him more as like a nature witch. I see him like picking, picking flowers and picking herbs to use and in his spells and incantations. And then Noya. I think Noya is like a, like a fire witch, like an elemental yes, fire something chaotic. Yeah, absolutely yeah, he's very chaotic. He's doing like a lot. He's like dancing naked in a thunderstorm on the full moon. Love that tanaka. I think tanaka is. Yeah, he's very chaotic, he's doing like a lot.

29:40

He's like dancing naked in a thunderstorm on the full moon. Love that Tanaka. I think Tanaka is doing like he's trying to do, like demon work. Oh, that's what I see for him, or I think he tries to put that out, but in reality he is just like a little like, maybe more of a little bit of a He'd be way too scaredy cat, I think.

em

29:56

to dabble with the dark forces, yeah, I think he'd want to.

rainbow

29:59

I think it would sound cool to him. But he would be like oh no, never mind, I'm just going to stick with my like very simple witchcraft.

em

30:06

Tsukishima, I feel like I see a lot of animal bones. I see toads, I see potions.

rainbow

30:13

Yes, oh, I see potions for Tsukishima, for sure for Yamaguchi I see as like a cosmic witch, like he's, he's dealing with, like the celestial bodies, and trying to pull energy from them okay, I was gonna say a garden witch for him.

em

30:26

So those are two different aesthetics that's true.

rainbow

30:30

Okay, I see both. Maybe he combines them, yeah, and the npcs, I don't know, they're Wiccans. What's thou like to live deliciously? What's thou like the taste of butter? Oh, that is something I want to say about witches real quick. I hate so much in movies and in media when witches are like devil worshipers because that is like strictly like a Christian view of witches and witchcraft. Witches are not signing away their souls to the devil to practice magic, like that's just. I'm sure there are some out there, I'm sure there's satanic witches out there, but, like, witchcraft is not about devil worship, it's just simply not. It is about the practice of witchcraft. I'm very passionate about this, okay, and then, yeah, anybody like I'm thinking like I think Kenma would be like just a very lazy witch.

em

31:25

Yeah, yeah, doing the bare minimum..

rainbow

31:27

Who's doing tarot? Who is doing tarot? I think Suga is doing tarot. I think Kuroo is doing tarot.

em

31:37

What about Kiyoko and Yachi?

rainbow

31:41

Oh my gosh, yeah, I think Kiyoko is doing tarot. What about, um? What about Kiyoko and Yachi? Oh my gosh, yeah, why didn't even I think Kiyoko is doing tarot. Yeah, I think she's doing tarot. I think she's maybe doing some divination. Yachi's doing a lot of things to calm herself down. Yes, she's doing a lot of like her.

em

31:53

I think her magic is very focused on, like her, finding her own inner peace and like, maybe, like, maybe she's a little paranoid, so a lot of like protection spells yeah, I think she, yeah, she's definitely carrying around little like little bundles of like herbs and stuff and people's teeth, yeah, um.

rainbow

32:10

And then I think I think bo kato is another like hinata type, like eclectic witch, where he's just like throwing whatever he can at the wall and seeing what sticks. And then akashi. I think akashi is more of like a cosmic witch as well. All right, yeah.

em

32:24

So thank you again to sasha, um fellow witch, uh, for recommending this one, yes, and a happy halloween to you all right before we go into this. Do we have?

rainbow

32:33

this anything for the spoiler zone? I don't think we have anything. Is there anything you want to talk about?

em

32:37

No, Ladies and gentlemen, there's no spoilers, though we have no spoilers for you. That is even more weird.

rainbow

32:47

Well, I think that's probably going to happen in these, in these little games. Yeah, because there's just not as much to talk about. I mean, what are we going to talk about? The episodes we're going to focus on.

em

33:04

Like we could talk about mean, what are we going to talk about the episodes we're going to focus on? Like we could talk about Shiratorizawa, but what would we even have to say about that shit? All right, well, no spoilers zone. But before you leave, hey, hold on, get back, get close the door, sit down. I need to tell you about my twitter. So I'm on fly high q pod. That's f-o-y-h-q-p-o-d.
